Thick putter grips

What do you guys think about thick putter grips? Watching KJ Choi putt I really like his stroke and the look of his putter grip.

I tend to throttle my putter grip, but when I make an effort to ease up I notice my stroke is much smoother and controlled, I was thinking that having a thicker grip for my putter would help me to not grip so tight.

I'm a fan of larger than standard putter grips, though I think there is a small challenge to get over when switching. If you have an arc'ed swingpath with your putter, it may take longer to square up the face. I've seen players switch to larger grips and push everything to the right (as a righty...) for the first few putting sessions. It may require getting used to, but IMHO it's a worthy endeavor.

If you have a straight-back straight-through swingpath, that shouldn't be an issue.

It's all about personal preference....I agree with the above to try it out for a few weeks and see if it works. Only thing I know about putting is that whatever makes you feel the most confident, stick with it!

I have a Winn Jumbo grip on my putter, and I love it. I have large hands, so like the OP, I tend to choke the thinner grips on putters. Whereas the larger grip makes me feel much more at ease, and allows me to putt with a much lighter grip.

Play with a standard SC grip that came with my putter, people who try it almost instantly throw the putter back and shake their heads.  Its a very thin grip but to me it just works, I am not a Pelz man so guess that would explain something.  Seems to me that wider grips are more popular for SBST putters, but I might be wrong.

Most of the latest edition of putters are packing wider grips, i.e. from PING, Taylor made and other big names.  It seems to be a trend today, just like white heads on drivers and putters.

But like others have stated what makes you confident over a putt, stick to it.

I've come full circle, and it wouldn't surprise me if we go all the way around again.

Started with the classic Pingman. Yippy yippy Winn Jumbo Lite. Felt so much better. Yippy yippy Tigershark Super Jumbo. Felt so much better. Yippy yippy Superstroke Fatso (couldn't even fit it in the bag). Felt pretty crap actually. Yippy yippy back to the Pingman and the grip in the fingers. Feels so much better. For now.

Putting used to be the strength of my game. Recently I noticed that I tend to miss most of my putts on the left side. So I got an oversize grip and it seems to prevent my hands rolling over at the point of contact. Also a center-shafted putter works better for me. I also need a new prescription for my glasses!

I have one on one of my putters. It works alright, but you need to start with a heavier-than-normal putter to begin with, otherwise the swingweight is thrown way off, which doesn't work for me because I prefer heavier putters. I'd be willing to bet that however much the larger grip quieted down my wrists, the messed up weighting undid. But there isn't much hurt to try it, other than the $13+tax+installation they charge you for it.

I have preferred oversized grips for as long as I can recall, I believe the current emphasis on quiet hands is reinforced by larger grips.

I have Winn AVS midsize on all my putters except my SC. The SC has a nice corded grip that is a little larger than standard(not quite as big as the Winn), which works well for me.
