I think he's highly overrated.  Tebow is a good quarterback but will never be a great one.

True and true I suppose. I've been avoiding Broncos games like the plague lately so I'll hold any further comments.

Thats exactly my problem with this Tebow mania.  People act like Tebow is doing it all on his own but it takes a team to win.  Its not as if Tebow is throwing for 400 yards a game and has a 110 QB rating.

Oh c'mon. At the end of the fourth, Tebow led a drive that, for all intents and purposes, stalled out on the 42 yard line. Most drives that finish on the 42 are punts, occasionally they're go for it on fourth down if it's short. Mediocre quarterbacks do that all the time. The immortal John Beck could have done that. But a 59 yard field goal, under pressure, with the clock expiring, in the cold? That's what won the game, if you have to award it to one player/event.

You doubters are out of your minds. I'm not a Broncos fan, but they are THE team to watch. Tebow might not put up numbers, he's pretty lukewarm for the first 45 minutes.

When he needs to, he does enough to win. He's done this almost every time he's had the chance. They won the last 6 games in a row, people.

An example of a QB with good numbers would be Romo. I'll let tonight's game explain that. You can have MVP numbers but still be a loser; Romo is a (perennial) huge loser, along with his team, when under pressure. Tebow, (like Eli Manning, btw), lights it up in the fourth quarter and pulls out a win. You hear how quiet Dallas stadium was in the final minutes? That's the sound of 100,000 fans not believing in their team.

Furthermore, and this is my main reason for liking him, he gets his team to play. I am a Vikings fan, and I saw them play with McNabb at QB; no effort, no fight, no nothing; hence, wasted season and snowballing into 2-11. The Broncos weren't doing much early on, but once Tebow shows up and exudes work ethic and confidence, the team rallies and makes plays all the sudden. You don't get that from a team who expects to lose and doesn't care. The fans, the defense, and the coaches all pull for Tebow, and that's what makes him special. Maybe not the most talented, or the best numbers wise, but he can play for me any day. He might not be a "great" QB, but he can win any game, as long as he has a remote shot.

He is the Bobby Layne of this generation.  Awful mechanics - though he's a much better athlete than Layne - compensated for by fiery determination and an unquenchable desire to win.  Winning ugly is still winning, which beats losing by a country mile.

And, in case no one remembers, this defense and Matt Prater were on the team when Orton was the quarterback.

Long term, he's going to have to do something about his mechanics so that he is more accurate.  As a long time Bucs fan, I know that it isn't practical to completely rely on your defense to keep games close into the fourth quarter.  Sooner or later, the levee's going to break.

I think the spread option attack is working in the fourth quarter for the Broncos because defenses tend to start backing up to prevent getting beat deep.  That said, it still falls on Tebow to deliver, and he's done a better job of it than a hell of a lot of statistically superior quarterbacks this season.

  • 2 weeks later...

My theory on Tebow is a golf one right now he is having that round where all the kicks, bounces, and bad shots go your way. Soon he will have the round where nothing goes his way and he has like 2 or 3 games in a row throwing 4 ints. The D won't be able to get him out of the hole and it all comes down plus if it starts now he could cost them the division. Now with all that being said I'd still never bet against him but every team figured out the wild cat and they will figure out Tebow.

I like him alot.  I like the way he conducts himself and shows others respect on the field.  I remember watching a game and another player got hurt on the opposing team.  They had to bring out the cart and all that.  He clapped with the fans as the other player was being carted off.  I think he is a great role model for our children.

But in terms of skill, he is pretty freaky combo.  To be built like a RB and be able to throw at all is impressive.  I want to see what happens when he works with Elway in the off season and gets some better targets.  They need a really good recieving TE and a WR that can beat a team over the top.

I personally think he is going to win a superbowl.  Not because he is so great, but rather just a winner.

He seems like a genuinely cool guy. I like that he's trolling radio douches like Cowherd by not being an "elite NFL body" and still winning. If he can establish himself as a decent or even average passer he can be on the same level as Mike Vick or Cam Newton in terms of being a double threat.

I didn't really care either way about him, but watching his mic'd up segment against the Bears swayed me to his side. He's a great teammate and a good leader.

I could do without all the religious references he makes but I like the guys heart.  He kind of reminds me of Jim McMahon from the Chicago Bears Super Bowl team.  McMahon didn't have great mechanics, but he was a great leader and could fire up his team when he needed to.  Overall he's good for the sport, it's nice to see a football player actually have fun and appreciate the opportunity he's been given to live out his dream.

If I'm not mistaken, he started that last drive in regulation at their side of the field with 30 seconds left. They ran 3 plays and he completed then all for gains of 9,11 and 17 yards. He also had no timeouts so i don't think anyone would have done better. What else you want? Him to go 3-3 and score a touchdown with no timeouts? I would love to see Tom Brady (who I root for) or Rodgers drive down the field just like he did
