I have it in my head that he was sick recently. I can't remember where I heard this, so I'm hoping someone will confirm this.

Too bad, too. I rather enjoy listening to him.

For the last few weeks, they've been saying on air that he was sick and today wished him well... at home in Vail recovering from surgery. Hope he's back soon, he's a great part of their team.

He had kidney stones, and then on today's broadcast they said he is recovering from surgery in Vale. He'll be back when he's healthy.

David Feherty wrote a great column about McCord and his illness in Golf Magazine. The column was written last month I think, but I can't remember for sure. You should read it. Hilarious.

They mentioned on air that he was heading into surgery to have "stent" removed. This sort of heart work is quite a bit more serious than stones. Usually stents go into to prop open blockages, I suppose he had a problem with one.

I hope to hear him again soon! He's a terrific announcer.

Actually you can have a stent for your penis which allows the hole to open wider so you urinate the stone out.

As delightful as that sounds, It seems Gary is then having a run of bad luck.

I refer to the May issue of Golf Magazine in David Feherty's article (pg 220).

Early in the article Feherty refers to Gary being in a Scottsdale, Az hospital with pericarditis. ("inflammation of his heart and the sac around it") While certainly not cause for a heart stent (nor a penis stent for that matter), there may be more going on than we are hearing.

Whatever his ills, I do hope he is back soon.
