The Best (worst) Spelling and Grammar Errors Thread

Recommended Posts

I was just reading a thread that happened to have an especially abundant population of spelling and grammatical errors, and some of them were pretty funny, so I thought it might be funny to cut and paste the best ones you come across in this thread.

So, when you see a doozie, put it here along with some commentary if you feel so inclined.Β And, if one of yours ends up here, try not to feel too insulted - you should use spell check and you should have paid more attention in English class!

OK, so here's one:

Nike Combo may just edge it with being a little more forgiving on the long itosn, but i would recomend giving them both a try.

Took me a while before I cracked the code. I do love hitting my long itosn though.

The following are all courtesy ofΒ  IIIIIsp1d3rIIIl. Β Β  It's hard to imagine a worse assault on the English language!Β Β Β  I highlighted some of my favorite misspellings.

theres a guy at work ses its easy to hit out of a dibit just take another inside it. hes been playing for four years.he also ses that its all about distance and how good a brand of clubs u have.i had to histaricly laph at him when i asked him how much he practices he ses he practices when hes on the golf course.this went into me telling him he should go to the driving range he told me only morons go there.that it wont teach u any thing and that u can only hit off a mat and that it dont teach u any thing and u cant learn any thing at a driving range.

oviously u dont get the purpose of a driving range .you can practice any shot at the driving range u would find at a golf course exept sand trap stuff.u have ruff and fairway and also uphill and dowhill lyes whatever u want to practice.then u can see if u hit a good shot if that one shot was a fluck if so u can do that shot over and over and over again till u fine tune it u cant do this on a golf course.

i dont know what his is but i bet i can out computer program him try spelling code and figuring out how to write it all day long lmao u could only dream i type so much when im just typing to somone i dont care how i type and u shouldnt neather so dous that mean ur shalow and a moron as well my thoughts and opinion are yes cous untill u can out write and program me i wouldnt even waist ur time ull just look stupid

WTF are u talking about rorys number 1 look at the standing hes beating tiger hes better tiger is inconsistant u cant change ur swing and every thing else hes changed and exspect to play well tigers a terrable player in my ipinion and...

Is superfluousness a grammar issue?

I spelled ceremony incorrectly yesterday. That's what I get for spending 20 minutes using Internet Explorer with no spell check.

Ha, you figured it out!

By the way, I don't know that we should be too hard on Mr. Spider ... I sort of think that "dibit" is a cool sounding word.Β  (Whatever it means)

Mmmmm, mini mesteaks with mushrooms and fried onions...

Here's a decent one:

Not sure what type of grass you play on but we have bermuda here in savamnah. I usually will geip the club a little firmer and open it up. The ball tends to pop up and land like a butterfly with soar feet

I can't help but think that most of the bad grammar and spelling on the internet is commited by kids.Β I know my 15 yr old boy hasΒ the firm opinion that spelling and grammar are of no importance.Β  He argues with meΒ that it is the meaning that counts, and spelling and grammar are just 'window dressing'.

I actually don't care alot. Not to much anyway.

My favourite is Β "use to" or "suppose to " which seems almost universal here, instead of "used to" or "supposed to".

What is more irritating, rather than funny, is that quite a few posters are starting sentences with "I pesonally think" or "Myself, personally..."

But...the phrase I want removed from the world most is "Moving forward". Β I'll take "alot" over that any day of the week. Even "could care less", in preference.

Oh.... it also seems that quite a few people think that "than" is "then".........I keep reading "rather then"..

But, really, I could care less as long as people don't write "at this particular point in time" or talk about "price points". That bothers me more.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Not sure if this was intentional, but mixing "your" and "you're" is very common. Also, "there," "their," and "they're."

Isn't "dibit" the sound a frog makes... when he's had too much beer and no longer can pronounce his "r's"??

Elaborate on this one for me?

My favorite is a buddy of mine that occasionally will spells out some contractions like "would've" and "could've" as "would of" and "could of."

I knew a girl in high school who wrote in my yearbook "I would of failed chemistry if it weren't for you".Β  My dad read this and he commented, "They let her graduate?"
