Any of you guys ride a motorcycle?

Just got one myself and was wondering if any of you fellow golfers ride? I am playing on taking the MSF course this Spring but until then I have just been riding around on the back roads near my house.  If you ride what kind of bike do you have and how long have you been riding?

Used to ride Suzuki GSX1100R and a BMW R100 touring bike. I used to go up to northern California to ride, very scenic. Southern California, is just not a safe place to ride, plus I have a family. I highly recommend taking your bike out to California sometime to ride our scenic roads, just stay out of the cities. Everyone thinks they are grand pix racers, even Nissan Sentras :-\

I used to. I almost bought a firebolt a few months ago. They are a lot of fun and I still might pick one up. I would like a nice errand runners.

Rode a lot when I was young, my first "vehicle" was a motorcycle.  I bought one with the money I made from delivering newspapers, instead of riding a bike to delivery I rode a motorcycle.  One of the few advantages of growing up in small town America, at 5:30 in the morning no one cared that you were only 13 and driving without a license, as long as the paper was in time for morning coffee.  I had a motorcycle all through high school and college, but once I got married that was the end of them.  My wife is a huge chicken/worry wart, so my days of riding were over.

For years now I've been wanting to get another one, I would ride it everyday to work in the summer, but just haven't pulled the trigger.

Been riding since I was 14, now 60. Motor officer for 8 years and taught the MSF course for a while. Currently ride an HD Street glide but added the tourpak and lowers. Congrats on the new bike. If this is your first one, leave it parked until you take the MSF course. It's not the same as driving a car. After you take the course you'll understand. Not saying it can't be done, just a lot of things going on you don't realize until after you've taken the course.

I started riding dirt bikes and thought that riding on the street was too dangerous. I got hurt on the dirt bike and bought a street bike. I';ve owned Yamahas, Harleys, Ducatis, and a Kawasaki. Currently without a motorcycle but soon to be riding again. Golf and motorcycles are the two things that I rely on to preserve my mental health. (Not to mention a little self medicating with the amber nectar and distilled spirits).

I can't stress enough the importance of taking the MSF course. I had to take it after 20+ years of riding and I thought it was a joke that I was being required to take it. I found out that I wasn't as smart as I thought I was and I may have learned a few things that have saved my ass over the last 20+ years.

My favorite fall day has been and will be again, throwing my bag over the back seat of a Harley touring bike and heading out to the golf course for 18 holes. Longest trip I've made on the motorcycle to play golf: 287 miles, Milwaukee to Indianapolis, combining hobbies.

Ok, now I'm jealous. Motorcycles and golf in the same day. Perfect.

Yeah I have taken it out on some back roads with no traffic but I am waiting until after the course to do any real riding. Doesn't open up again until March but I plan on signing up for the first one. Going to put the bike away for winter pretty soon anyway though.

Good job on deciding to take the MSF course. Learning the basics from the get-go will stand you in good stead the rest of your riding days. It's like learning the proper grip and set-up in golf. You can do an awful lot more with the game once you get those fundamentals down. I've been riding all my life. My dad had a factory ride from the Spanish company "Bultaco" back in the day, and got me riding by 4 and racing not long after. Mostly I've been involved in "trials" (a type of dirt competition), but over the years I've road raced for a privateer team and MX'd. My wife is a serious racer also. We met in a trials chat room. She's a twice previous New England women's champ, and has 3 competition bikes: a 1974 Honda TL125 for vintage racing, a GasGas JTR260, and a GasGas Pro200. I've got a Beta Rev3 260 which she gave me as a wedding present on the morning of our wedding, pimped out with a top hat on the handlebars...she draped her JTR260 with a veil and jammed the bouquet in her number plate...we had the ceremony in the woods and raced to the alter from either side around all the ("startled" I think is the word) guests. I also have an '85 Yamaha TY350 for competing in vintage events. And a cherry restored and tricked out '77 Kawasaki KZ1000 for the street. To my chagrin, my father - now 77 - can still dust me and any ten of my friends on his hyper modified Suzuki Bandit. But someday... someday .... Have fun! :-D

I've been riding almost daily/religiously for the past 14 years. Don't know what life would be like without my Harley. I have a nice new to me 2010 BMW that really only gets used when I have to haul more than my bike can store like groceries and golf clubs haha.

I had had a few bikes and love riding. Congrats.  I had a Suzuki SV 650, Suzuki TL 1000 S, Suzuki TL 1000 R (street fighter), Suzuki GSXR 600, Yamaha FZR 600 and a CL 350 "cruiser bobber"

Your dang right its a Harley. Its my daily rider and occasionally I take out my bmw. What's wrong with an HD? I'm not here bashing any other bikes am I?
