SKLZ Gold Flex vs Orange Whip

Thread Starter

Has anybody used either of these training aides. I purchased the SKLZ Gold Flex. Gold Flex was $70 vs $110 for Orange whip both are the same but the SKLZ is half the price. The gold flex has helped me with tempo, keeping hands in correct position at top of backswing starting the hips and release of hands thru follow thru. I have a habit of getting my hands to high and out on front of my shoulders which leads to the dreaded over the top start of a swing. It helps me drop my hands back into the slot keeping them inside and done the path to my target. I strongly support this side and suggest you try it in the store.

I made the same decision you did for the same reason, price.  I even asked about it here and neither members here nor the person from the Orange whip could give me much in the way of functional differences other than they claim better quality and a counterweight at the butt, which no one could really explain the advantage of.  There were reviews here but I could not find any comparative reviews of the two products side by side.

I've used other people's Orange whips, and my own Gold Flex and cannot see enough difference not to go with the less expensive option for me personally.  So that is the way I went.  If money were no object I might have gone with the Orange whip, but money IS an object.

turtle, what do you think of the Gold Flex?  Maybe write a product review here so others can read it and understand the benefits of it from your perspective?  Good response above, but it may get lost in the billions of threads.  And writing a review may help others find it easier?

I'll give it some thought after I have had it a bit longer.  I definitely like it as a warm-up device but I can't yet assess it as a swing trainer or golf muscle strengthener.

Just pulled my Gold Flex out of the box today. b2_tongue.gif

Though I had shoulder surgery December 26th (torn labrum), I was able to slowly work into a decent swing path and tempo with it. My hope was confirmed that it is an easy way to increase my flexibility while doing physical rehab. and find my swing again. Haven't been able to hit since September.

Hope it works for you. I've been using the Gold Flex for a while too. The Orange Whip isn't available down here, as far as I could ascertain. Not 100% sure how I feel about it yet. When I am, I'll write a review.

I bought the Goldflex recently and think it is excellent. I am not sure how the Orange Whip would differ. It just gives you the feel of a correct swing. A combination of this and Martin Chuck's (Revolution Golf) Laser like irons DVDs has totally changed the way I swing and I am loving it. Chuck's 50 minute lesson on the modern golf swing simply opened my eyes. I can't recommend it highly enough. His tips for effective practice are also brilliant.
