Wow. Romero gives it up. Then Harrington gives it up, and Sergio fails to close.

Exciting stuff. I love watching the Open.

Sergio: "Pardon my phlegm."

He just hit the flagstick on the second hole. It ain't over yet, and Padraig still has to play the 18th again. Heck, right now I'd say the odds that they finish this playoff tied again are pretty good.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Boy, Sergio missed a bunch of putts that he needed to win. It looks like he just couldn't get a handle on his nerves. That putt for birdie on 18 looked like it was going in.

I dont know if it was his nerves, the only putt that looked bad to me was his one for birdie on the par 3, the other putts slid by the edge.

His thing is he needs to stop making excuses, ya its golf and putting can be that way, just say it can be like that sometimes, dont make up excuses for why they missed, just say you thought they made them and they didnt go in, shit happens. Complaining and stuff only hinders his development of his skill, once he gets over that shit maybe hell start to putt better agian.

Sergio had his chance(s). I don't feel bad for him at all. He went in typical Sergio mode with the putter. Belly putter, short putter, cross handed, conventional, whatever, still the same Sergio. Seemed to me he played a little too much break on a lot of his putts yesterday. At least the one's I saw on closeup, he was missing just outisde on the high side. Hard to not be happy for a guy like Harrington.

Sergio did not deserve to win. He had let Romero and Harrington back in it with horrible front nine and some back nine blunders, then Romero makes a big mistake and hits it OB on 17, and Harrington D.B. number 18 and Sergio was basically handed the tournament and he couldn't get it done.

Sergio should have pulled away and won handily. Belly putters dont help with the mental game I guess.

Sergio needs quit acting like a little bitch when he looses. He is not man he is still a boy. Hence the name "el nino". He blames everyone and everything but himself when he loses. Only men win majors and the kids watch on the sidelines. If he ever grows up maybe he can hold Claret Jug one day.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I agree. I'll admit early in the tournament I was rooting for Sergio to win his first major. Other than the fact I had him on my fantasy teams

I thought it was perhaps his time and he deserved it. I'm glad he lost, and lost to a guy like Harrington. How can you not root for Harrington? Talk about a guy who deserves a major. Maybe Sergio's quotes were taken out of context but just by hearing some of his comments and reading others, that's just poor. He had plenty of chances and he just looks like a little baby with comments like that. Again, I didn't hear them all and I understand the media can paint a bad picture but I do believe Sergio needs to grow up a little.

I have never heard a professional golfer talk the way Sergio did in his press conference after the playoff. Sure he must be dissapointed, but OMG. He sounded like a 15 year old who lost the monthly medal on a countback.
He was borderline out of control all day. Pleading to god for his ball to get close on 13? 13? Long way to go, buddy. Talking like he has to beat not only every player in the field but the fates too? What a whiney bitch.
Sergio, you had a ten footer to win! How many do you want? How many do you need?
Harrington wanted it. Sergio seems to think he's owed it. Don't know why. You have to be able to putt to win majors, yea? As far as I'm concerned, it was a typical Garcia final-round fade out that just happened late in the round. I really wanted him to win, but now I don't give a toss.

"That's Golf!"
