I happened to see a reference to this club and it caught my interest for a couple of reasons:

1) it was designed by the guy who basically invented the USGA CR/slope system of handicapping, Dean Knuth, and

2) it was designed specifically (or so they say) for the slower swing speeds of amateurs.

Apparently he came out with his first driver back in 2007 or so and had limited (i.e, break-even) success.  Now that he is retired he has re-visited and updated it for current technology.  As we might expect from a guy who spend a number of years with the USGA, the driver is legal under the ROG.

They may have designed it for amateurs, but they didn't go amateur on price, $399.

Here are a couple of links for anyone interested:

So after all that my question is, has anyone here bought and played with one?  Is it any good?

But then again, what the hell do I know?

No but I looked at the site, can't remember where I saw it, may have been a review on golfspy. Cool looking driver but I have five already so last thing I need is another one. I need a better swing not a better driver.

From that first link that was offered. Knuth had an independent outfit test a selection of competitors and the High Heat, using a robot to hit balls. Knuth said the High Heat tested longer than every major brand model except one.

Love to know what that brand was......................

Hate crowned cups.

This article is just a horrible ad.

List off things the author mentions that make this driver "special"

1. Lower center of gravity (sure it helps higher handicappers with those low strikes but certainly not ideal for everyone)

2. Loud (only tricks you into thinking you hit it well. I hate loud drivers. It can actually damage your hearinghttp://content.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1869790,00.html)

3. Roll and bulge (seriously? Ever driver has had roll and bulge for more than a century. Who the hell are they trying to fool?)

4. Super high MOI of 5346 ( Nike Sumo2 5900 driver already pushed the legal limit in this aspect of clun design)

Nothing leads me to believe this club is nothing more than a run of the mill SGI driver.
