Well after playing a few times with the burner pluses I must say I'm impressed. Not my g20's I was use to but I like them. I got promoted last week and I got a bonus check this week. So needless to say I'm in the market for a new driver. I'm leaning more towards the R15. But I'm looking into vapor, big Bertha R15 and the cobra fly z. What are your thoughts.

Go get fit, go in with an open mind and try them all. I was in the same spot you were a month ago and it came down to he fly z or the g30. I felt more confident with the fly z so I went with that, and I am really liking it, it fits me well.

My advice is get fit for the right shaft and best loft, then get that, i would avoid these new adjustable heads if possible, in my experience they lead to turmoil, everyday brings a different swing, one day your at the range, in a rythym, hitting at 9.5, then you go play and things dont start off right so you start switching things, in a panick you start altering your swing, it doesnt get good from there, till your next range session, then you start pounding it at the 9.5 draw setting, and then tommorow comes along, oh shoot! Just find your best loft, spend all your time figuring out the shaft, then trust it and go!

I was in the market for a new driver a month ago.  Agree with others.  Get fit which sounds like you are, but get fit by the right person.  I did research and talked to several folks about who the best fitters are and ended up driving 2 hours to see the right person.

I have always been a TM guy, but I went into the fitting session with an open mind.  Had a budget and wanted to stick to it.  I tried all the new brands and compared to what I had.  Some just did not look right at address, some felt weird when I hit a ball, and some were dead on.  When it came down to it, I had a top 3 solely based on my best numbers.  Calloway XR, Titleist 915, and Ping G30.

I ended up getting the 915.  I had no intention on spending $450 on a driver. I still think I am a bit crazy for buying it, but the numbers and consistent ball flights I was getting with it was undeniable.  We tried several different shafts and settings and got the right fitting.  Have played with it 5 times now and my accuracy off the tee box has gone up dramatically.  Distance is better, but I just have so much better feel for this driver than any I have ever had before.

Moral of the story, have an open mind, see the right person, do not go to the guy who pushes you to a certain brand, get educated on what the numbers mean (spin rate, etc.) before you go, and get what looks and feels the best for you.

I would add that you could also try out last year's models also. Most times there is very little difference in performance and a big difference in price. You could very well find something that is cheaper that gives you the best numbers. A good fitter will not just push you to try only the newest releases, they'll actually make recommendations based on the numbers you produce. Good luck, and have fun.

I've purchased many new drivers over the years. Hit them good on launch monitors but always disappointed at the range and on the course after fitting and purchase (I'm been fighting a fade my whole life). I had purchased many years ago a Cobra S3 Max 3W which I still use because I hit the hell out of it. So I figured if I hit the 3W that well, maybe the S3 Max driver would work as well. So I went on Ebay and found a new S3 Max driver at a Pro Shop in CA for $89.00, including head cover. So I purchased the club and it was delivered several days later.

The S3 Max has a built in draw bias, it not adjustable, just set at 10.5*. I purchased it with a regular shaft given I'm 64 and have had three back surgeries. I can't say enough about this club, I've played four to five times now and have been to the range with it many times. Helped with my severe fade (not a slice).

The S3 Max series is four to five years old, before the Amp Cell, Bio Cell and Fly Z. Just goes to show you don't need to buy the "latest" club on the market to find what you need.

Check out are Review section. These are in-depth reviews by the Sand Trap Staff. You'll get a good sense of what to expect. There will also be a review of the TaylorMade Aeroburner coming out soon. It is a nice driver and costs a bit less than the R15.

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
