Hey Guys,

I just wanted to share a video I did on my new YouTube channel about prioritizing during your green reading routine.

This is something that really hindered my putting when I was an amateur and something that I've noticed a lot of my students struggle with as well. The information behind why speed is important might be fairly common knowledge to those of you that spend a lot of time here. However, I don't think prioritization is discussed that often.

I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks.

Putting is like art. There's not one right or wrong way of doing it, holding the club or making your stroke. People need to spend the same amount of time rolling putts as they do hitting bucket after bucket. If they did, they would be pretty surprised on how much they could improve. However, just like art not everyone will as good at it as the next person. With practise everyone will find their most effective way to see and roll the ball but not everyone will putt like spieth.

Agree and disagree.

There is no one right way, but most people really don't have "a way." In this context, even if they have "a way" they are probably leaving out half of the equation.

I would also disagree that people need to spend as much time putting as they do hitting. Most people need more work on their ball striking than they do putting. However, just like with their ball striking, if they knew what and how to practice they could get a lot better in a shorter period of time.

Or… rather than experiment, they could take an AimPoint class.

Just want to add, proper speed can also be the difference between a putt holing along the edge, or be a lip out or a drive by.

I thought about this during my putting practice today. I'm not sure what order I prioritize pieces when reading greens, so I'm going to focus on your advice and look at speed first. This makes sense to me. Thanks.
