Spygate...serves them right to lose in the most important game of the year

Indeed, 18-1 was as "perfect" as it could get in my mind.

I think our lasting opinion will also be determined at a later date, after this Scott Walsh stuff and "Spygate Redux" or "Spygate 2.0" are settled.

That so much attention was lavished on an organization that was caught with its pants down....I voted Spygate.

That so much attention was lavished on an organization that was caught with its pants down....I voted Spygate.

Spygate has got to be the most media-concocted event ever. If they had bugged the other team's coms, maybe that's one thing. If they played the same team every week, maybe that's another. But all they did was record - which they're allowed to do, they just did it from a prohibited location - the signals of one team, which wouldn't help them at all the rest of the season. Has anyone proffered exactly what advantage this was supposed to give them, and explain how that advantage could actually be considered the reason they are the first team to run EIGHTEEN victories off?? It's just absurd. Football moves too quickly, all the play calling is too dynamic, audibles and the like. There's virtually no way that either "Spygate" 1 or 2 is material, other than an attempt to bring down a good organization with a BUTTLOAD of super-talented football players. I think it's an injustice their season has to have this tarnish.

Think about it, it insults all the players, doesn't it? So Brady, Maroney, Harrison, Hobbs, Light...all these guys were just cheaters? AND, doesn't that degrade the Giants win? I mean, you can't say the Giants brought down a great team, if you're going to accuse the Pats of just being cheaters, right? The Pats played crisp, fundamental, dominating football all year, and the Giants came into the Super Bowl, and threw them completely off their game, pulling off a couple miracle plays and giving us a Super Bowl finish for the ages. And all some people want to do is tag this season with "Spygate." What a shame.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

So, I've had some time to think about this over the past few weeks. And I'm going to remember the wins. Super Bowl? Big deal. They've got three.

With football, I'm concerned with the action on the field. And the Patriots had some exciting games this season. Stealing signals isn't something I care about. If a team I really dislike gets caught doing the same thing I'll say the same thing then (and you can bring up this quote). I don't view football as a game of honor, and certainly not to the same level of golf. You break a rule and get caught by the referee, there's a penalty in football, but no one's ever going to call offsides on himself. I don't view the spying scandal as anything bigger than a really big offsides. And if a coach or player calls offsides on himself at some point, please bring it to my attention.

Maybe this would change if I had a hometown team, but I've lived most of my life in Los Angeles and Orange County, and we only have one professional football team (the Trojans) and they aren't in the NFL.

Spygate has got to be the most media-concocted event ever.

At least you didn't exaggerate or anything.

The point is, a lot of people are pretty sick of Bill's crap. His b.s. injury reports, his constant grumpy nature, the running up of scores. Additionally, the story isn't necessarily over. It's a bit bizarre how the tapes were destroyed. The Scott Walsh fellow may have more, too (personally, I doubt it). And so on.
If they had bugged the other team's coms, maybe that's one thing.

Allegations have been made about unassigned wireless frequencies and constant trouble for opposing teams communications at the Pats stadium.

But all they did was record - which they're allowed to do, they just did it from a prohibited location - the signals of one team, which wouldn't help them at all the rest of the season.

That's not my understanding - the location was not the problem.

Has anyone proffered exactly what advantage this was supposed to give them, and explain how that advantage could actually be considered the reason they are the first team to run EIGHTEEN victories off??

They didn't win 18 victories every year before, too. This stuff goes back several years, but no investigation into that was done. It casts a shadow on everything they've accomplished for the past several years.

It's just absurd. Football moves too quickly, all the play calling is too dynamic, audibles and the like.

It doesn't take very long to say "54 is blitzing" in Tom Brady's ear.

I think it's an injustice their season has to have this tarnish.

They cheated. They tarnished their season themselves. I could make a golf analogy, but they're too plentiful to choose.

AND, doesn't that degrade the Giants win? I mean, you can't say the Giants brought down a great team, if you're going to accuse the Pats of just being cheaters, right?

Sure you can.

And that's part of what bugs some people - they were a great team, yet they felt the need to cheat anyway. Why? Habit???
And all some people want to do is tag this season with "Spygate." What a shame.

I doubt that's "all" that some people want to do.

The media was the first to build them up (some saying they could go undefeated after week 3 or 4) and the media was the first to tear them down. Fitting, don't ya think. They were and are over rated cheaters. Their coach is a classless *******. They were put up on this "Dynasty" pedestal and knocked off just as quickly. Truth is, they are not the 72' Dolphins. They are not even the 85' Bears or the 84' 49rs. Maybe they could go down as the best team to ever loose a Super Bowl, maybe. Let's see... they have a woman beater, a juicer, a dead beat dad, and the biggest ass ever to coach the game leading them all. Yea, their great!!!

How about the sportsmanship once again demonstrated by Belichek....leaving the field before the game is over, come on, your supposed to be a professional coach.

As for the rest of the season I sum it up with a movie quote.

"If your not first, your last." -Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrel in Talladega Nights)

Congrats to the Giants btw...If you would have told me the Giants would win the superbowl out of all the playoffs teams, I would have said you were crazy. But they stepped up and played well, and they deserved to win it.

Along with almost every other team in the league, but the other teams weren't the ones that got caught...you can't say they are the only team doing that, and I don't see why its such a big deal when you can have someone with binoculars in the stands looking at the def. coach writing down notes on what the coach is doing as well...same thing.
