Little League baseball, at least around here, has had a 'slaughter rule' in place for years.

Edit, I guess its called a mercy rule now, beat their butt, just don't hurt their feelings.

So at what age should the "slaughter" continue?  Up to a certain age playing sports should be more about having fun and learning the fundamentals than beating the crap out of your opponent.

You mean like when a 6-6 team goes to a bowl game?😜

We don’t know the circumstances regarding this. If they just quit, then that would be disappointing. But there are a whole host of other possibilities.

All about the Benjamins!!

We can't even coach any more when the weather gets to hot or there is some kind of testing coming up that the kids should be home to study for. It's become ridiculous.

OT, but this certainly isn’t true in baseball. Totally out of control. Baseball comes first. Every..waking..day. No exceptions. Period.

Im not clear of your point, sorry might be me. But the NCAA allows a mercy rule in certain circumstances. This from a handbook in 2018.

Currently, the NCAA’s mercy rule is dictated by conference and usually only applies to the final day of a series or conference tournaments

Even in Ohio high school football (which is pretty damn cutthroat), I've see second halves played with a running clock. Generally, both coaches will agree to such things when it is a blowout at half time.

At least that was how it was about 15 years ago.
