Callaway Ball Cross Section - Innermost Layer Off Center

I've been noticing posts like this in my social feed, where you see the cross section of the ball and the middle layer is off center. Maybe I dunno, 1/500 are like this? Or not? How does this effect performance full swing and putting?

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Use a 2 piece golf ball. This never happens with a two piece ball.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs. 

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

These guys discuss it in this podcast

Callaway CEO didn't necessarily claim the counterfeit card.  

These guys tend to think Callaway possibly doesn't have the same levels of quality control that other brands do

I'm sure they have some bias.

12 of the 14 clubs in my bag are Callaway.  I also play Callaway balls.  I'm not particularly happy about deciding to play Phil Mickelson's brand, and I'm not happy about how off-center this Callaway ball was, but it is what it is.  I listened to this podcast a couple weeks ago and from what I remember, the guy they were interviewing who had done the research was pretty careful not to bash Callaway.  He considered the off-center more of a general problem with all golf ball manufacturers (the worst example of which they found was the one Callaway chrome soft ball).  They found examples of an off-center core in a wide variety of balls.  They urged manufacturers to spend more time with quality control and less time coming up with marketing gimics.

Hmmm, I just bought 24 Callaway Hex Tour Soft at Costco, haven't seen this problem I don't think. I've played the Chrome Soft and never experienced a problem, we'll see I guess. Anyone play this Hex Tour Soft ball?

      Patrick Cantlay's strokes gained from 2024: I wonder if he takes more time on approach shots given that was the worst part of his game last season. And then here are his 2023 stats: Much better ball striking season. I wonder if there are any differences in his times between these two seasons. I tend to think he's just slow in general, but it'd be interesting to see his time differences.

      Not sure, I think players have their own pace. Speith was always slow, regardless if he was in contention or not. Well, more so when he was in contention. It might be a push there on that question.

      Without knowing the study at all, this could be more of a reflection of who is tournament ready and who isn't. If you have a quick trigger, it could mean your swing is working really well. Fidgeting, lots of rehearsals, maybe means your swing's not functioning as well as you'd like it to and you need more time to feel it all out before you hit your shot.

      A study done by the European Tour shows spending less time over the ball produces better shots.  This makes sense. I can see where if you are over the ball a long time you lose the ability to make a more athletic swing. There is also the possibility of just overthinking the shot while over the wall as well and not being in the right headspace.
