How does shaft weight impact a shot? Example, I've got a TaylorMade Burner and the shaft is 50 grams..pretty much a feather. Back in the day I would drive off the tee with my 3W because I hit it just as far..this was odd to me and I started looking at the two clubs and discovered that the shaft on the 3W is 75 grams. I've not put much thought into this whole situation since I've been playing again but now that I'm nit picking my game I'm wondering about it again.

Do you guys have heavier shafts on your driver?

Shaft weight affects how you react to the way the club feels and what that results in your impact conditions. I don't know your game but a 50g driver shaft is really light. If I were you I'd go for a club fitting to see what kind of shaft is most suitable for your game.

I play a 75g driver shaft. I have the opposite problem actually, where my 3w shaft is too light and I don't feel it well at all.

It all depends on the golfer, but I suspect golfers who swing harder like more swing weight.

Yeah I think it's time to go look/hit some new drivers and get a proper shaft dialed in.

I believe you are correct. The 3W with the added shaft weight feels a lot more solid overall as well.

75g driver shaft?! Wow, thats quite a bit.

I mean its a trade off, swing speed can go down too much if the shaft is too heavy. I play with a 62g X shaft. Ive swung with a 76g X and lost 3-4mph swing speed.

I was fit some time ago and hit a heavier shaft best. I think the fact that it's heavier means I'll swing it slower in the backswing and won't be so quick in transition.
