I watched a review of the Cleveland Launcher HB and since I like hitting hybrids I bought a full set, 4 through GW, I had tested them. Anyway I've played them and was disappointed with distance. Yes they are easy to hit but I noticed I lost yardage. I went back to my Cobra Bafflers and don't you know I regained about ten yards. Why did I ever waste the money on a new set when I hit my old set, (the Cobras) so well? Anyone else buy a new set only to be disappointed on the course?

BTW, I'm not sure the launch monitors in the stores, (Dicks), are that accurate.

The last time I went to Dick's I lost 20 yards carry on a driver. If they wanted to sell more clubs they should jack that sucker up to high altitude desert setting. I want to carry it 260 not 220. 🤣

Most of my club purchases have been well thought out and demoed so I haven't bought too many items that didn't perform well. I can think of an old Cally X 3 wood I ordered with a boardy Fuji shaft that I gave away and a Adams Idea Pro Gold 3h that I bought because I love the 2h version so much. That's more of a too much of a good thing issue but in my head the 3h just never made it mentally so its been on the sidelines since I bought it. I never really needed it either, it was an impulse buy with a really cool candy red shaft. The only other club was a Vokey 60/04 that turned out to be a scalpel in soft to moderate conditions, that got sent back immediately. Like anything else, its buyer beware when you make a blind purchase, but if its a deal sometimes it pays off like my Vokey M grinds and Scotty that were gifted to me a few years back. They worked out perfectly.

It is something I deal with - I love my original TA 845s Silver Scots, but also the Diablo Edge irons and lately the Titleist DCI 962's.  The 962's seem to the better of the lot as I love the way they look at address and are consistent.  BTW - got the entire set (2i-SW) for $30 at a local consignment shop.  They had been recently regripped with Golf Pride MCC midsize (which I love).  These are some sweet irons.  The Diablo Edge irons I love if we are in soggy conditions as they don't seem to dig as much in the turf.  So I switch back and forth.....Wedges are another story.  I love my Cleveland CBX 50 & 58 wedges and they play well off the Diablos with the PW being 44deg.  The dilemma is that I have tried Vokey wedges and they don't like me much. So I much rather play the Ping Eye2's (50.5, 53.5 (Eye2+), 57.5) and they work well with the 962's with the 9i being 44deg.  All that to say, I love the variety and will keep playing different clubs on different days except the Vokeys, think I will try to sell them (they are older and pretty well played).

Ping G400 SFT 10deg  R flex
Ping G410 3w R flex
Ping G400 3h and 4h R flex

Cleveland CBX wedges - 50, 54, 58 or 52, 58 (depending on my mood)

From a golfer who had accumulated close to a dozen and a half set of irons over the 4 decades, yes, I constantly go back to another set and then another set........

Issue is not the head design, the differences in the total static weight from different sets often takes some time to get back into the grooves of golf swing.  They have similar rated flex and swing weights but because of the different shaft weight which produced different total static weight which will need some necessary changes to the timing and the retheme of my golf swing.

When I was younger, it'll be a day on the driving range or a round of golf to get the feel back from a different set of irons.

Apex 4 was rated a stiff flex from the OEM but it is a lighter shaft than the TTDG S300/S400.  Funny thing is,  distance lost was common, even switching from a heavier shaft back to a lighter shaft.  Theoretically, it should produce more distance when going from a heavier shaft to a lighter shaft.   However, not the case with sets from the same era, so the lofts were similar, not to be blamed for the change in the distance.   The weight played a big part of how I accelerate through the impact, probable was the reason why there was the variance of distance going from one set to another.

I am using a set of Maltby TU irons that I assembled several years prior to building a newer set of Maltby TE irons.  After giving the TE's a year in the bag...I went back to the TU's.  While the difference is not dramatic...the older irons are more familiar and I prefer playing with them.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

I have no problems playing my newest set of clubs. I'm getting what I expected out of them.

However, they won't keep me from playing my ancient set of Ironwoods every so often. Always nice to revisit past memories.

In My Bag:
A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

You should never be buying something that you didn't A/B with your current clubs on the same monitor under the same settings

You're right I should have done that, probably would not have bought the new set of Clevelands. They felt good and I hit them fine but the Cobras just get more distance, maybe the swing weight is different or the lofts, I'll have to look them up and compare.

Today I did a 9 hole revisit of my Nike Forged Blades (and 2 wedges). Left my Titleist driver, wood, and hybrid in the bag. The Nikes are 2 degrees weaker than my AP2s, so I expected them to go a bit further. Hit 6/9 greens on a short course (2700 yards for 9 holes), so I didn't have to hit anything longer than a 6 iron. I was really please with how I played and I might leave them in for the next time I play. It doesn't make sense, because the AP2s should be easier to hit, but I seem to be more comfortable with the Nikes.
