I never really considered myself a hoarder, but recently my wife pointed out just how much space my 'necessary', but never used, golf equipment was taking up.  Guilty as charged. I find it rather difficult to give up some of my old 'treasures', but practicality tells me to do so.  Plus if I do sell off some of my old treasures, I can buy new treasures.  LOL

I want to see pics of those who hoard putters. @Double Mocha Man

If I have old stuff, it’s because its for my kid when he’s older. Otherwise I give stuff away or sell it. I have enough for maybe 3 sets of clubs.

I don't keep a lot. The more expensive clubs I have sold when I upgrade. The rest of the clubs I have sitting around are random and I probably couldn't get 20.00 out of them. I just haven't taken the time to sell these. The only thing I have kept that is worth an okay amount are my Mizuno MP32s. I could sell those but I just like having them for some odd reason.

Have a small room (6x10) containing stuff I don't use and don't want to rid myself of. I was just in there this evening and I found....... Memories. My old trusty Tony Penna persimmon driver with an aluminum insert. This thing was cutting edge back then.  Acushnet First Flight The Instrument Irons, possibly my favorite set of irons I ever played, but they were used so much they are lacking grooves on the short irons. A couple sets of Wilson and MacGregor blades. A set of Wilson Goosenecks. What a mistake that purchase was. I loved the look, cant use offset irons. . . A set of Taylormade metalwoods from the late 70's. After a couple months the driver rattled when you hit it, the foam or weight inside came loose.    A Titleist Tour Balata 100 I took out of a trophy when my kid and I threw out 5 hole in one trophies to make room for more useless stuff. And yes, this was the ball used to make that ace all those years ago. There is also a myriad of other useless stuff in there, like a couple old LORAN-C units, but they aren't exactly golf related. I may hit a bad shot here and there but never needed LORAN to get back into play!

This thread got me thinking. Look what I found:

s-l400.jpg

2 Irons = 38.5"; 1/2" decrease on each club. Shafts: Steel, Regular Flex.

See how straight that leading edge is? They are very soft forgings, and kind of a precurser to a more forgiving design.  A powerful, boring ball flight, given the old school lofts. (like 50 degrees on the PW if I recall) I think I may have just sold myself.......

How to get rid of the stuff, that is the question I have. I don't feel like just throwing out my stuff but the thought of selling, packaging and shipping is not appealing. Plus I don't think my stuff is worth anything really. At last count I had 11 putters, 6 drivers, three sets of irons, and an untold number of wedges, chippers, hybrids, etc. Is there a place you can donate to?

The First Tee in your area may take them.

    • Day 85 - Played 9. Driver was solid, approach shots were pushed, chipping/pitching was better, putting was rough.

    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
