Okay, it's been happening a lot more than I'd like when I'm around the greens in heavy rough and I'm trying to play a flop shot with my 60 degree wedge...

Actually, it's happened even when I'm not trying to play a flop shot, just a chip. I think it's because I'm not breaking my wrists when I take the club back. I've been using more of a putting stroke with no wrist cock and I think it might be why, but was wondering if anyone has any insight\suggestions...thanks!

Been there, done that. Like said above, I tend to do it when I don't catch it clean on the initial strike.

You have to accelerate through the ball. If you are double-hitting it is because you are not trusting the club to do its job, and decelarreting through the ball ball. Keep your wrists ahead of the club, eye on the ball, and accelerate.

Yep...you have to commit and have an aggressive move through the ball, no decel allowed.

the reason why you are double-hitting it, is simple. the club face is going too slow due to not enough accelaration at point of impace.
