OK, I'll play this game. 4 guys not named Tiger Woods that will contend this week at Doral in no particular order:

Hunter Mahan- the kid's got game, that's all I can say about that. He was right in it until the very end last week and I expect a lot of the same here this week.

Vijay Singh- the dude straight sucks at putting, but that is all he sucks at. If he putts even mediocre this week he'll be in the top 3 come Sunday.

Jim Furyk- stellar record at Doral and his game is starting to show signs of life, especially at Bay Hill, Furyk gets off the schnide this week and pulls in a top 5 finish.

My pick to win the Non-Tiger flight is Phil Mickelson. He loves Doral and will play great here again this year. Bay Hill he didn't play great, but he didn't really play that bad either, just couldn't get anything really going his way. That'll change this week and Phil is going to win......(the Non-Tiger Flight)

The real trick is figuring out who is winning B-flight, aka second place to Tiger. I'm looking at Imada and Marino, and will feature both on both of my fantasy teams if at all possible (the exception being on Pick 'Em if Tiger is on the same line as one of them).

Isn't that what I said?

Who'd have ever thought we'd need an A and B flight in pro golf?

It is what you said. I just like the term B-flight better, especially since Imada won that at the Buick in January: the first time I heard the term used for the PGA Tour.

OK, I'm with you. The B Flight it is. It does sound better too, actually.

Surely Tiger can't win ANOTHER tournament in a row, I am really rooting for him hope he goes this season undefeated. So obviously he is my pick for Doral but how long can this winning streak last?

Great picks there three putt. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 2 of those 3 in the mix come Sunday.

Tiger... wow... absolutely amazing. I knew he was going to drain that putt, but still was in awe as I watched it roll in. His ability to hit clutch putts seperates him from the rest of the field even more than the World Golf Rankings indicate. His cluch putting ability ranking would be something like...

I like Ryuji and Luke.

It is really blowing today...gusting up to 30 mph, it is predicted to be a steady 10-15 tomorrow. South Florida wind in March is not something that is easily predictable. If the wind is up it will add an added dimension to the Blue Monster. That course is hard enough with all of the sand and water, so any wind makes it that much tougher.

Remember that Doral plays short. 4 of the par 4's are under 400--the par 5's are cupcakes. The wind is not supposed to be more than 10 mph this week. Today it is blowing-it will die down. I expect something like 22 under to win this thing. Remember most of the Par 5's are downwind--thats why you see scores over 20 under winning every year

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

This tournament definitely has blowout written all over it. If the winds are down, Tiger will go really low and probably win by a 3 or 4 shots at least. Hell, he may win by 3 or 4 if the winds are up. It's definitely his to lose. Not only has he dominated at the CA Championship, he has also dominated at Doral.

I expect Phil and Ernie to both play well, but that will fire Tiger up even more. They should both finish in the top 10 but not first. Also keep an eye on Camilo Villegas. He was second at Doral in 2006 and didn't play there last year. He might be in the hunt as well which would be great for the tourney.

O yea-this is exactly his kind of course. Hes gonna be able to hit 3 wood as far as some peoples drives. He will dominate this course with accuracy --he will be able to use the driver more because Doral's fairways are huge-theyre very wide.

Tips for this week?

Harrington is not playing this week. He has opted not to play as be likes to play 3 weeks in a row with the 3rd week being the week he plays best in. If he plays Doral, then The Masters is week 4. He wants to peak at Augusta. I'm hoping GMac breaks into the top 50. Graeme McDowell that is.

Graeme Mcdowell is such a great player. He played soo well at Southern Hills....Man can that guy hit irons....i think he will finish in the top 10 this week because he plays well on long courses

    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
