i still think we should worry about Tiger's security...

What makes you say that?

I just think that there is an unpleasant element of people out there who don't like him, or are very jealous of him-could you imagine Tiger's caddy doing a concealed carry?...actually, i think it's conceivable that he could be armed.

Maybe not his caddy, but I imagne he has a personal body guard who is most assuredly packing.

Even Rosie O's body guard packs heat.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rhuLnrrwJQ

Back to the original question...

I would not put a gun in my golf bag period. There are a few reasons...

I would be watching it like a hawk. Sure I watch my bag now, but I am would be less worried about having someone stealing my putter than making off with a loaded gun, especially some cart attendent kid or anyone for that matter. There is only one reason for me to be on the course and that is to play golf. I think worrying about a firearm in my bag would be distracting to my game. While a firearm can protect a life, it can also harm an innocent life if an accident occured. As I understand our law in Florida, you cannot carry in places that have an alcohol license nor can you go to a school sanctioned event (which could occur at golf courses). The risks of throwing a weapon in my golf bag, far outweigh the advantages. All that plus you are liable if you leave your gun in your bag because I am certain that you have not properly stored it outside of your possession.

you can wear an old fashioned holster!..lol

There in lies the problem.

You can wear any number of holsters on your person, or even keep a subcompact in your pocket, but since golf requires movement, this may be an issue. The bag makes more sense, but its less secure.

well good luck to ya- if you think you need it then have it!

..a more widepread problem is clubs etc being stolen from the locker room or outside the clubhouse where people leave their trolleys.

I love the name of the website. How appropriate! Is that a relative? I don't think carrying on your person would be conducive for scoring. I would leave it secured in your car.

i often wonder about Tiger's safety at the big events..id be interested to know what arrangements and checks are made for him-because barring the unthinkable, he will break all records.

From the tournaments I've attended, there are usually quite a few police/sheriff officers scattered throughout the course and they usually have an onsite command center. IIRC, at the two PGA Championships I attended, Tiger (and I think several others) had an officer with them on the course. Toss in some plain clothes officers (off-duty officers) and whatever security the PGA has and I would imagine they are taking every precaution to ensure his (and others) safety.

You can bet more then a few of them have guns.

I carry a gun nearly everywhere I go, including the golf course.

Unfortunately, it's the society we live in.

Because your still

Carrying a gun, and even pulling it on a criminal, doesn't necessitate shooting it. Criminals are, by their nature, cowards. I don't have the statistics at my fingertips, but I would bet that the very act of pulling a gun will get an attacker to flee.

Let's say you do shoot him though. Is shooting a criminal who is attempting to harm you is on the same level as shooting someone to steal his wallet? Does this make the death penalty murder, too?

Keep in mind not everyone plays at Augusta on the weekends. I don't think it would be a bad idea if I was going to play the local muni in Baltimore or something (no offense to anyone who lives in Baltimore )

    • I have that club and absolutely love it!
    • Have a 19° (moved to 20.5°) Titleist 915H. I just love the club. Beautiful feel off the sweetspot, high launch, soft landing. Versatile. In the future, with less overall speed I will replace my 4 and 5 irons with another hybrid, something around 26°.
    • Broke the head of a Stealth Plus on a warm up. TaylorMade send me a new head but I decided to upgrade it to the new IQ10 LS and pay the difference. While I was waiting for the 8° head to arrive at the store I messed around with all the multi brand putts they had available. I instantly liked a black TaylorMade Spider, not the new one but very similar. The weight felt perfect. Big line in the middle for easy alignment. I was playing and old Zebra so the change in technology and feel was huge. Fast review of both clubs.. Driver QI10 LS. I always hit to ball up in the sky. I was playing the stealth at 7° with a 60g X low flight shaft and I was still hitting it pretty high. With the QI10 playing it at 6° now is almost hard for me to hit it high, with the same shaft the ball comes out lower and with less spin. so I'm really happy with the change. Putter Spider. I love it. It took me an afternoon to figure out how to grip it (it comes with a superStroke grip) but after that it all came into place. More stable on short putts and a good weight to swing smoothly on long putts and with added forgiveness over my old zebra.
    • I have a 2h but we don’t get along anymore. It’s a bit of an abusive relationship - she gives me just enough hope once in a while that things are going to be better and then it’s back to the same old shit. I went to a PING fitting recently with the intention to replace the hybrid with a 5w or something, thinking maybe I’ll be better with a fairway wood than a hybrid. But it turns out the best club I hit that fits in that slot in the bag is another hybrid so I ordered it.
