I am heading to Pinehurst in April with three other people. I was looking for some different golf games you can play for money.

Any ideas?

I've always enjoyed Wolf

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Our favorite foursome game is a Nassau style game which is 3 separate bets per 6 holes (Per Partner)

Start by assigning a partner order (Typically - Carts/Drivers/Others) and set wager amount.

We use an inside bet (3 holes) which is won by winning two of the first 3 holes. (Option to press when down/losing)
Then the next 3 holes are also an inside bet.
The overall 6 hole bet is won by team who has won 4 of the 6 holes with the same (Option to press when down/losing)
They can also press the total if down. ( A common Press by a friend of mine when he is losing, He will press the World 🙂
meaning he presses all bets they are down.

Another crazy game is called Vegas.
Same format within the 4-some (Typically - Carts/Drivers/Others) and set wager amount per points.
Now the low ball will win the hole for each hole. If a Birdie is made the scores are flipped.
Example Team #1 has a 4 by one player and the other has a 5 - Their score is 45
Team #2 has a 4 by one player and the other has a 6 - Their score is 46 and lose 1 point $$ amount.
However if Team #1 had a Birdie 3 then their score would be 35 and it flips the other teams score to 64
Now the diff is 64-35 = 29 points $$ amount.

We play a Max double bogie to keep it friendly (Flipping a 8 or 9 by a player gets pricey)
And it really gets ugly when a losing team wants to press the Bet/Point value up.
I've been in games that start at a Dollar per point and raised to Five dollars per point... Yikes - goodbye my trusty Franklin's...

Banker is a great betting golf game.  We tweak the rules a bit but this is how it works...We setup a pre-defined rotation for banker (instead of lowest scoring hole out) to rotate it.  We also cap par 3 press to double (instead or triple) but you do have to call "double it" before the ball lands on any shot.  We set the minimum bet $1, max is whatever the banker wants to set it.

Banker, golf gambling game for a foursome. One player is the banker and players gamble one-on-one.

Our foursome plays 2-person teams which change every 6 holes.  Best ball. High net ball loses a team point and low net ball wins a team point..  We typically give the less skilled players (me and Marty) a stroke on the hardest hole of the 6.

The Wheel Game!

2 vs. 2:

both players play their own ball.  on each hole there are 3 points.

Low score (individual player with the lowest score)
Low total (team with the lowest score)
GIR - player with the Green in regulation closest to the pin (no point awarded is no GIR).

and then a 4th point added if your team sweeps all three (otherwise known as the Wheel)

it's the best.

I play most of the games above, but I played a new version of the Nassau, the second ball of the 2 player team breaks the tie on a hole.

Plus we do an automatic press at 2 down.

I like that version also and feel all players scores should count when playing for $$
After all, it's a game among Men with deep pockets 🙂

    • Day 105: mirror work today. Focused on not looping my hands at the top of the swing. Straight down.
    • Still working on the backswing a bit. Hand still gets away from the body, out towards the ball, and at A2 the club wants to roll over and get flat at A3. It's just very difficult to shallow from that position like I want. Which makes my downswing work impossible.  Backswing I have been playing around with the left leg straightening to start the backswing. It's like, a slight shove of the hips right with the left leg. Then just keep the flex in the right knee as I turn into it. I kind of like it. I never had a good swing trigger. It helps keep my left knee extended.  Yea, definitely feeling the hand path is traveling down the feet line, and straight up. A little bit of wrist rotation, and a lot more hinge sooner in the right wrist and elbow. I am trying to get the feeling that the arm hinging up then is the cause for the right shoulder to retract to finish the backswing. Club feels much more vertical at A3. I am trying to have my wrist fully hinged by then.  Feel the club and arms stop at A3.5 (my A4). If my arm collapses late, then I turn into that and I am pretty much screwed. The club and arms kind of have a floaty feeling, where they are just suspended in air for a bit, then drop.  Downswing I have been trying to think of a good visual for this mentally. I like the idea of my hands taking a wide arc to my right pocket, or I am taking the back of the hosel and trying to hit the ground behind my right foot.    Left knee stuff, just sooner.
    • Day 78 - 2026-03-10 Backswing work at the net with foam balls, a few real ball swings.
    • Day 525 - 2026-03-10 Got some work in before lessons today (was going to play after but it decided to POUR). Then like three minutes in later on.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 26) - Worked on weight shift feel using slap stick drill (hands about 6” apart - coming back weight on trail foot - down - thru weight on lead foot….moved it to hitting chips w/9i playing what I call “leap frog” - hit 1st about 10yds, the next a couple past the 1st, for about 6 balls total.  Love it as the lies change, the distances vary making each swing slightly different.
