I later heard it was his first career Ace on tour... Hard to believe !!!
Wonder if they will be serving up drinks at his restaurant tonight ???

I'm sure a few players will drag him into the bar when he's done... 😉

Have you seen the field? More like GMac and Hatton pounding Guinness pints while the rest are asking for club sodas.

Can anyone explain what went on on Hole #16
Smith hit 3 wood off the tee which bounced into the water,
Leishman then determined the point to take relief.
He drops twice due to ball rolling back into the penalty are and has the ball in hand to place.

He placed the ball, then picked it up a couple of times.
Each time he placed the ball, it stayed where he placed it.
Each time the ball was place in a different spot.

I understand, the ball must be placed in the nearest spot which the ball touch the ground.
I'm puzzled as to why it took several attempts to place the ball?
It did not move any during each time he placed the ball!

He eventually played a great chip into the hole which was awesome !!!

Craig Winter explained this on the telecast.

Apparently, the first couple of times he placed the ball, he realized that he'd placed it closer to the hole. So he moved it until it stayed in a spot that was not closer to the hole.

    • Yeah - I'll keep an eye on that - I've been across the line for about forever, so I assume that I want to overexaggerate the laid off bit to get it closer to square when I take a real swipe at the ball.
    • Those are better. Watch where the shaft points at the top, too. Bit over-rolled there (laid off).
    • First swings at after a 2.5 month forced hiatus. No surgery in the forecast at the moment! Doc said okay to start easing in gently over a few weeks. The effort is barely 30% here but felt solid.  I think my swing changed a few years ago after my right ankle injury (weight shift profile). I wonder if this may bring about another change. I certainly won't pivot on to the knee (left) aggressively any time soon, if ever. Could even be a good thing..heh.
    • I mean, I just assume he mistyped something. 🙂 Promos were on X/Twitter and today I put the promo on IG. The full video is landscape (not good for Instagram) and too big for X (file size), so it's always been on YouTube.
