New York State Police are investigating the drowning of a 90-year-old Fayetteville man at the Rogue’s Roost Golf Course on Route 31 in the town of Sullivan in Madison County, near Syracuse.

The preliminary investigation determined that Alan J. Goldberg was retrieving his golf ball Thursday when he lost his balance and fell into a water hazard on the golf course, police said.

Goldberg drowned and was recovered in approximately 8 feet of deep, murky water, troopers said.

That’s not too awfully far from me. Madison County borders Chenango County to the North. So it might be 45 minutes from here. Sad just sad.

A number of years ago a man had his arm taken off by a gator on Fripp Island while trying to get a ball out of a pond. Very tragic.

While I was working to get through college we had 2 old timers drive their golf cart off the bank into the 10th hole pond. These are the guys that were senior seniors that we called 9-holers. We quickly rescued them.  By the time we pulled them out, the only thing that you could see was the top of the golf cart roof.

      I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers

      Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.

      So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
