well i just switched from the tour ix to the tm tpred. we'll see how it works out.

i bought my pops 2 dozen srixon trispeeds so i'll give a review on those soon.

TaylorMade TP LDP Black . . . for higher trajectory higher spin, or Red for less spin and a more moderate trajectory. Both are great balls and perform real well in the wind as Sergio mentioned in his victory speech.

Off the tee I use Black if hitting driver to give higher trajectory, and Red if hitting 3W to keep the trajectory down.

I'm a member of two local courses.
One golf course is probably designed to loose golf balls... I use whatever there is in my bag. (really, the fairways are only 20-25 yard wide, the rough is sometimes 2 feet tall and even in the semi-rough balls are unfindable)

At the other course it's much harder to loose a ball, and the greens are a lot better. So I can use more expensive golf balls. Sometimes ProV1, but usually I still loose one or two balls per round, so I still prefer to use a ball less expensive but still very good (like Titleist NXT).

I use the Pro-V1x, but am thinking about trying out the Bridgrstone and Nikes again, just for fun.......seem like I always go back to the V1x tho.......

I really like the Srixon AD333's that I have. They just have a great feel for me.

I like the Srixon URS, seems to fly far for me and great feel around the green. I think if you generally miss greens but are close, the feel of the ball around and on the greens is more important than a few more yards off the tee. I find the harder distance balls are too difficult to lag putt close consistently as they come off the putter so hot and quick.

I think most higher handicap players do not hit the ball consistently solid enough to judge a ball off the tee from another, so the feel of the chip and putts ought to be paramount concern for most anyone.

Has anyone tried/heard of the Titleist Tour Prestige ball? I was at costco today and they were selling a 2 dozen pack... I've never heard of them and was wondering if they were good. From the box, they seemed similar to NXT Tours.

It's a 7 year old wound ball. It was Titleist's top ball pre-ProV1. It's much shorter but really spins!

This is getting confusing. In the other thread comparing the taylormade tp balls to the prov1/prov1x you insisted on making it clear that balls that launch low will be the higher spinning balls, and usually climb higher

overall in their ball flight as compared to their initially higher launching and lower spinning "sister" ball. So wouldn't that mean that the lower spinning ball (prov1x) would have a lower overall ball flight?

Ill use anything apart from the realy cheap distance balls.Usually titleist nxt tour,callaway warbirds,srixon ,just had a box of pinnicle gold on demo which suprisingly were ok

It depends on too many things to say. I can hit a Pro V1 lower than a Pro V1x or I can hit it higher. Or vice versa.

It depends on how much backspin you put on the ball, what loft you've got on your driver, your shaft, etc. A lot of it depends on angle of attack and clubhead speed, too. You're right in questioning me and in saying it's confusing, because frankly I shouldn't have posted such a quick little comment without any real explanation. For some players, the Pro V1 will run a little more because it'll carry shorter but have a smaller impact angle (i.e. a flatter ball flight). For others, it'll start low, climb, and then fall out of the sky with a larger impact angle (closer to 90 degrees than), thus not rolling far at all. It depends on the impact dynamics. Launch angle is one thing - how the ball reacts at the peak of its flight, how it gets there, and what angle it hits the ground at (and how far from the tee) are very depending on things we won't learn by people posting here. I will conclude by saying this: carry yardage is about all you really want to worry about. Maximize that - try not to care about rolling the ball. Pros hate rolling the ball because the ball can roll into trouble. Same reasons you like to just stick your wedge. It's generally easier to hit a target if you can drop something right down on it rather than try to roll it at it.

ive been playing Nike Power Distance Straight Balls, and for 20$ a dozen i cant complain, good solid balls , and for some reason i can't seem to hit ProV1's (its all in my head)

I tend to like most tour balls and will try any of them that I can find at around $30/dozen. At some point in the near future I'm going to try and get my head around the idea of finding ONE golf ball that I can stick with. So far I just can't stand the financial implications of only playing nicer balls and have yet to find a cheaper 3-piece that is as good. I recently tried out the HX Hot Bite and although I liked the way they played I found the cover was pretty chewed up after just a few wedge shots, far more than I experience with the HX Tour 56, so any cost savings are lost due to durability. I recently tried the Wilson Zip since it sounded like it might be a good fit. I found that I liked the way it played off of the driver (great in the wind) and irons, but found it didn't hold the greens as well as I thought it might and that distance control off of the putter was really tough. So far my favourite ball has been the aforementioned HX Tour 56 which I used in a best ball tournament this past weekend. I really love the feel off of the driver and putter and managed to back one up on the green with a choked up 60 degree wedge shot from 60 yards out. Even when I hit them somewhat thin with my wedges they'll often stick to the green or just roll to the skirt while most other balls tend to roll off. I'm curious about the Tour i, but it's unlikely I'll try them this year.

I have always used Pro V1's when I can get them and they perform great, but when I can't (most of the time, I don't buy them) I play the NXT tour. It's a good ball, pretty good spin, especially for $10 or $20 dollars less than tour balls while still performing really well. I'd say try it out, but the only way you'll find the ball best for you is by trying a bunch of different ones.
