At the moment I turn my hips by rotating my pelvis clockwise, but would it be better to rotate your hips by lowering your left knee, causing the right hip to rotate backwords?

 

Or is this an inferior method to using your pelvis to rotate your hips?

 

Reason I ask is because when I use my pelvis I often experience reverse pivot of my upper spine at the end of the backswing, because my pelvis isn't rotating straight across when I reach the end of the backswing, I'm shifting it which is putting it out of line, causing the upper spine to go out of line

Make some swings in a mirror and try different things. See what your feels produce.

I don't really know what you mean by "using your knees" in this way, and quite honestly, I don't think you do either… not because you don't think you know, but because you're probably not doing what it feels like you're doing.

Move the hips properly, and see what the other body parts do. Do it in a mirror so the feedback is immediate.

A better way to say it would be using the leg to push the hip, here's a video of what I mean he's referring to the downswing but am I right in saying for the backswing should you do something similar, where you use your leg to push the hip rather than just trying to get the hip to turn clockwise

To me this is fairly simple geometry.  If you're set up right, your hips will turn around an inclined axis.  Imagine a hula hoop around your waist, tilted a little.  That means that in the backswing, your lead hip will move "around" that axis, away from the target, closer to the ball, and closer to the ground.  The trail hip does the opposite.  So your lead leg has to increase flex, your trail leg has to extend.  The opposite happens in the forward swing.  

As to what feel will produce the most efficient movements, that's going to vary from person to person.

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress. 
    • Day 130: did a stack session. 
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20. 
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
