I just realized that I never posted to this thread.

I'm a Configuration Manager for a defense company in the DC Metro Area. There are processes and procedures that need to be followed, people. (No one ever likes the CM guy.)

And I work in Falls Church, but live in Fredericksburg. Anyone who lives in this area will know how miserable I am every morning and afternoon.

how did you get into that?

I started out as an apprentice at 15 years old, hanging drywall and framing with steel studs in commercial spaces. In between finishing high school and doing some college, I joined the union and worked my way up to journeyman and then foreman. The VP of the company I worked for in California offered me a position in the office, which I jumped at. That was going on 5 years ago. I'm up in Washington now, doing the same thing at a much bigger company.

It's a really cool profession - lots of stress and hours at times, but we have alot of fun, and it's always challenging. I miss being in the field, but my golf swing and flexibility have improved a ton since becoming an office guy.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
