i purchased a special select newport 2 off the shelf that's 35" (it originally comes with 30g weights).  realized the club is too long so i sent the club to get reduced down to a 34".  the caveat is that i didn't change the weight.  a 34" comes with 35g weight off the shelf and i wanted to know if there will be a noticeable difference in the swing weight to justify getting new weights.  i haven't gotten much of a chance to test my putter before sending it to scottycameron for customization so i don't really have a good baseline to determine if the club will be too 'light' or not.  am i overthinking this?  thanks

The heads are the same weight for current Cameron putters. They just put in different weights for the length as you know. It may feel a bit different, lighter. You can get replacement weights.

You need to hit it, not ask us.

We can't answer how you will feel about a weight change in a putter. Everyone will have a different preference for how a putter feels based on numerous elements.

Also remember to not jump to any conclusions based on a single putter session. I would use it at least a few separate times to allow your body to adjust to it before making a decision.

Probably not, A 35 foot putter is pretty long though, you're going to cut a foot off of that? You're  putting with a tree as it is....

Oh and by the way your putter will be what I use for my clubs length for any drops or winter rules in own fairway.

All kidding aside: Not that much, though, it may feel slightly lighter cutting an inch off.  There are ways to make the swingweight stay the same, however.

Lead Tape might be needed.

    • Can you elaborate on this?  There's a par-4 hole at the course I've played the most (was my home course for over a decade, now 50 miles away but I still go and play there) whose green is below the fairway and I realized recently it's one of three holes on the course I've never made birdie, despite that I often have a short iron into the green for my second shot.  It isn't even that I haven't made birdie, but I realize I often don't hit the green.  My typical play of the hole is to have a near-GIR and sometimes I get up and down, but not as often as I would if I were trying to 2-putt.
