To anyone who follows golf closely, Immelman is nowhere close to the likes of Todd Hamilton and/or Shaun Micheel.

I would agree with the Ogilvy comparison. He has the game to be here for a long time. If not for the health issues he would likely not have taken as big a step back in the last year.

I agree, Immelmann is a much better player than Hamilton or Micheel. He's been a great player for some time and it was only a matter of time become he came through.

Now that he has "closed the deal" (and done so impressively), he will be mentioned in the same breath as Geoff Ogilvey as a potential "young gun" contender in every major in the forseeable future.

Geoff's backed up his win by winning yet another WGC event. To date, Trevor has one win on the PGA Tour. So I'll still give the edge to Ogilvy for now... though he's two years younger (so both won majors at about the same age).

It remains to be seen how he'll back it up. I think he's more likely to do so than Zach Johnson. Hopefully he can handle the challenge the next year will present him.

I thought that Snedeker was the real deal in the Masters and we can expect to see a lot more from him soon.

I agree with that totally. I think his youth didn't serve him too well Sunday past (no. 13), but with experience he will shine.

To date, Trevor has one win on the PGA Tour.

Plus four wins on the European Tour ( 2 x South African Airways Open; Deutsche Bank SAP Open - TPC of Europe, beating Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Paul Casey, Westwood, Poulter, etc, etc); plus the Nedbank Golf Challenge. OK, the Tusker Kenya Open wasn't the deepest field but you can only beat those who turn up - and he was just 20 when he did it. His Western Open victory wasn't bad for a minimum-schedule PGA Tour player.

I'd say that's a pretty impressive record. I know there are some who underrate the European Tour but I'm sure it's only because of lack of familiarity, rather than anything else. With 10 of the top 19 at The Masters being European Tour players - including the winner - the level of competition is higher than some give it credit for. Give Immelman full credit for his victories on it - the OWGR does.

4 wins on the European Tour.... That is like saying Nolan Ryan pitched a no-hitter to my sons tee ball team. This is PGA golf, not the minor leagues.

I don't believe Mr Ryan (whoever he may be) would have got any ranking points in MLB for such a feat.

It's interesting how those minor leaguers keep kicking our asses in the Ryder Cup. The European Tour may not be the PGA Tour, but it is still world class talent.

That's confusing the issue, though. Most of the European players spend a lot of their time playing on the PGA Tour. It's not like they take only players who spend the majority of their time on the European Tour.

The PGA Tour is still the stronger tour (by far). Heck, most of the "Europeans" live mostly in the U.S. If they took only actual Europeans who still lived and played primarily in Europe, they might not field a team.

No doubt, but to compare the European Tour to tee ball is silly. Many of their best come over here because the money and exposure is great. The PGA Tour is the best golf tour in the world and any argument to the contrary would be futile.

His immediate effect was evident at our course in Myrtle Beach on Monday -- way slow play.

Slow player. Love his story, mind you.

Everyone on the teebox Monday morning was mimicking his preshot routine in their own certain way. We were double-teed.

We kinda expect that behavior, but...

Now if Snedeker would've won...play might've been quicker. :)

He has a great swing and did finish Top 10 on the money list in 2006. I think his chances of a strong career are better than say Ian Baker-Finch or some of the other 1st time Major Winners. He seems like a really good guy.

baker-finch played 4 good rounds in his life. then he struggled to shoot 72 for 9 holes. apparently he is going to play on the seniors tour.

Iv'e never really watched him much since last week obviously. I was really impressed with the "tidyness" of his swing, .... razor sharp. He will be a contender for some time to come the way I see it. I wish my swing was half as clean as his.

    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
