I'm in the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I do a lot of flexiblity exercises combined with resistance bands and heavy weight training.

One of these workouts is devoted strictly to cardio: stairmaster and running.

Nope. I always say I am going to but then never do. I do stretch everyday for about 15 minutes in the morning and at night and a little extra stretching before I hit the course.

So who works out on a regular basis here?

I work out regularly and even typed my workout routine once. Check it out:

Twice a week with a personal trainer!

Mostly cardio and flexibility training.
Some light weight training, but I plan to hit it harder as the summer goes on..

It's seems to be making a big difference toward the end of the course. I'm not nearly as tired and my back is getting more and more flexible.

On my tombstone: "If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'm doing just fine!"

5 Days a week and 3 nights a week football training and it never seemed to help my golf game at all untill i started doing lower back exercises... I was starting to get a dodgy back so i started doing lots of lower back exercises (back extensions, dead lifts etc) as well as a lot of stretching in that area and a lot of ab work and it has improved my game out of sight, getting a lot more hip turn now and just feel a lot more power coming from the core... so to answer your question if you want to improve your golf game work your lower back and abs !!

I ride a bike 20 miles or so a day, then lift some small weights and stretch.

I also do 200 pushups, crunches, and reverse crunches every night before bed.

I voted no because the little bit of stretching I do everyday is hardly a workout, but my job is somewhat physically active so that helps, but no specific workout routine.

I enjoy working out during the week and playing sports (golf included :) on the weekends...basically this is my routine...obviously YMMV

20 min jog 3 times a week in the morning before work (usually the first three days, but if its raining, i'll skip for the next day).

Hit the gym 3 times a week after work and do these in order per day:
Day 1-Chest
Day 2-Back
Day 3-Shoulders
Day 4-Arms
Day 5-Legs + Core

In relation to golf fitness, its the legs and core workout that is most important to me. If I don't do it, my lower back and legs lose stamina (I always walk when playing 18). It mainly consists of squats, leg curls, quad extensions, calf raises, groin exercises (i forget what they're called, but you basically sit on the chair and squeeze your two legs together to lift a desired weight). Core workouts consist of pulling cables in a 'golf swing/twisting motion' lifting a desired weight at different angles (diagonal down, diagonal up, straight around), lower back raises, and side crunches.

EDIT - Forgot to mention that i base my workouts around how i feel. So even if its day 1 for chest, if i feel like im stiff, ill focus on stretch exercises for that muscle area (with some lifting in there too obviously). Similarly - If its stamina, ill focus on high reps for that muscle area. If its strength, ill focus on more weight less reps...etc...hope this helps...i'm always interested to see how golfers exercise :)

my work outs are crazy. I have to stay in shape for "on camera" and contractual purposes or they can get rid of my a**
Of course I change the splits every 6 weeks as you should but here's typical

Cardio: 10 minute warm up jog - 10 - 15 incline 5 - 6mph
Day 1: chest & bi's supersets & circuits
day 2: back & shoulders
day 3: legs & tri's
day 4: rest
day 5: day 1 splits - LIGHT WEIGHT repping 20 reps
Day 6: legs.
day 7: rest

to end each work out: minimum 20 minutes of cardio:
stepper - level 10 - 15 for 20 minutes
treadmill either walk for 20 minutes at incline 15, speed 4.5 or do run/walk splits

and of course abs everyday

    • How would you change the rule to make it more "fair", and still be consistently interpreted and enforced?  It may not be perfect, but as a referee I can watch a player and look at the ground surface and make a ruling.  How can it be changed to address different players and their individual height, weight, and shoe size?
    • A bit old.. but this rule is kind of unfair ...  Lets say that you have Emiliano Grillo and Darren Clark playing together on a PGA event and on one hole both hit the ball to the middle of the fairway only 1 inch apart. When they arrive to the ball Darren take his stand and water comes out from the ground and remains there so he procceds take a free drop on a dry area and hit his shot.  Afterwards Grillo takes his stance in the same spot as Clark, but because he is a lot ligther, no water araise from the ground. According to the rules he is not allowed a free drop from the same spot darren had a free drop seconds before. I would love to see this happenning live on TV. Can an argument be made by grillo? could and official use the "spirit of the rule" to let him have a free drop?
    • Day 84 (24 Jul 25) - Weekly nine hole round cancelled as the course was tied up with a ladies tournament.  No worries - set up with the 54deg wedge and worked on varied shots with green side focus in mine (those nGIR's).  Worked between high floaters and low spinners from varied lies replicating the types of lies I typically see on the courses around here.
    • I meant lb for lb - so yes I agree it's wheel weight. How would you go about explaining that to someone? Perhaps the rotational inertia being higher with heavier wheels and the rotational inertia of the wheel requiring more torque to make its angular acceleration increase at the same rate?
    • Day 7: Had a virtual putting lesson with @iacas. Spent some time afterwords working with the metronome.
