I'm not watching the show, I did not like the last season at all, but heard about the scene and hey, it's already on YouTube. He makes what looks like two albatrosses in a row with a not great looking swing (that's fine, can't expect all actors to be athletic). Dunno what course this is. Western US somewhere?

Looks like 3 albatrosses in a row.

The guy should have suspected something was up when he made the second one.

I've forgotten much of the show, I know it's a simulation and robots, but it's not a simulation of the Matrix type, the fake world is manifested physically right? Even a robot with a perfect swing and super speed can't do this. Apparently this scene has kind of gone semi viral?

Did they blue screen in that golf course? Something just seems off to me. At first, I thought it looked like a really good video game cut scene.

I think they look very hi definition, and the background looks less so.

The physics of the golf ball look off. You can see the golf ball just start to plummet out of the air right after he hits it.

Why are you both assuming it's a par four?

Also, it's clearly not a real ball. It's just CG.

See below. That was Harris making the swings, but probably CGI for the ball. I was watching his swings and saw him playing a fade, but the ball came in as a draw every time 🙄

the shocking part to me is that someone would be surprised to see unrealistic golf in a movie. Even movies that purport realism...say, the greatest game ever played...the golf has many, many shots that I look at and think "yes, I can hit that...on the X-Box"

weirdly, some of the most realistic golf shots I have ever seen were in Caddyshack...the 40 yard straight right shank, I have seen that and pretty much that exact ball flight :-)

    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.

    • Thanks man, sometimes it’s hard to improve bc when I’m not feeling comfortable I don’t like practicing bc I get frustrated. Any advice?
