Going to 15 clubs limit...

Now that companies have mostly maxed out on the technology part in the clubs, the next best way to sell more clubs is to bring the current 14 club limit up to 15... This is just a fictional scenario so don't get too worked over it, but do you think the USGA will consider this to ever happen?

If yes, then what club will you add and will it improve your score tremendously?

If it did happen, I would probably add another wedge, as im almost sure everyone would, depending on their current setup, I already have a 3w and 5w, but I actually only have 13 clubs in my bag and just realized I have room for another, I only have a 60* wedge so would probably add a 56 and a 52

i have:
driver, 3 wood, 3-pw and 52, 56, 60 wedges and i hardly ever use the 52. really is a waste for me. i use 60* for chips and 56* for approach within 70m. i don't think i even used the 52* in my 18 yesterday.

Well I don't have a 52, and I needed one twice today in only 9 holes. I hit my 56 degree no longer than 105 max, and my pw is my 125 club. In between there I need a 52 degree to take a full swing, and make shots from 105-125. Im going to buy one this weekend since I only have 13 clubs in my bag right now anyway.

But, if I did have the opportunity to add a club, it would either be a 60 wedge or a 4 hybrid.

I really don't feel I need 15 in my bag everthing is 4 degrees apart

Probably would add a 64* wedge like Pelz says to in his short game book. It would be nice to have a club that could add height to shots around the green with out opening the face and the risk that brings. Hmmm. . .

If they would implement such a rule. I'd continue to use only 14 clubs in protest!

But for the sake of answering the question, I'd say I'd be adding another wedge. Though to keep my current spacings that would need to be a 66, which seems a little extreme... Possibly a 2-Iron or a strong lofted hybrid.

I would hope the USGA would not change the 14 club rule because there are enough choices of clubs to use already. The idea of one more thing to have to carry or, another choice to have to make is more than I care to contemplate. I have faith in the free market to continue to develop new products without resulting to rules changes in order to accomodate said free market.

I would have trouble deciding between my 5w and a lob wedge. I hit the 5W pretty well but carry a 7W instead because I hit it a little better and the distance isn't that much different. On the other hand, there are a lot of situations where I wish I had a lob wedge. I'm even thinking about getting one and dumping the 7W because I seem to lose most of my strokes from about 50 yds in. I get close to the green in 2 or 3 strokes with relative ease but getting from there to the hole is a real challenge.

I only carry 12 as it is, and am thinking about getting rid of one.......but I'm adding a gap wedge, so I'll still be at 12......

I would probably add some sort of rescue club, however I could very easily do that now by just losing my 3 wood.

I carry 13 regulars and add a 14th based on the course. I figure I could add a lob wedge if I end up at a course that has fast greens or thick rough, but I can do that anyway by making it the 14th. Or maybe an actual driving iron if I could find one.

I don't want 15 clubs. I'd rather see people limited to 12 or 13 than 15.

I wouldn't favor more clubs, but of course if allowed I would add another wood style hybrid or five wood.

I know a pro who only uses 7 clubs and he whops our asses every time....
