Having the best offensive line in the country could account for an extra touchdown per game.  An offensive line supplemented largely by the transfer portal, does the subject rankings include transfer players?

So defensively we're talking 5 points, which happens to coincide with changes in defensive coordinator.

OR.... They could be cheating...

For people who say it is not that much of an advantage. This could be coincidental. BUT...

247Sports Recruiting Rankings since 2016 thru 2020 - 8th, 4th, 22nd, 8th, 10th. (Average 10th)

Rankings from 2021 thru 2023 - 13th, 9th, 17th. (Average 13th).

UM suddenly got a nearly 12-point differential improvement. It could be possible the advanced scouting didn't have an impact.

I may be confused but the “Before W-L” seems wrong.  No way they played 93 games in 5 seasons.

A better offense also keeps the defense off the field more, so a reduction in scoring from opponents can also be (partially) attributed to a better offense. Time of possession, shortly, too.

2015 thru 2021 would account for the 69-24.

2022 and this season would account for 22-1.

247sports does a composite team ranking after transfers are considered. UM has been pretty good at it, enhancing their final rankings.

Their 2022 season would be supported by the following rankings- 8th, 10th, 13th. Starters are made up of primarily 2nd, 3rd and 4th year starters. I did not include freshman because you may get one guy who has an impact. Their 2019 season would be supported by the following rankings - 8th, 5th,10th.

2022 they went 13-1, and 2019 they want 9-4.

The post refereneced stats for 2016 so I did not realize it went back to 2015.

Even 2015 - 2021 is 61-24 per my Wikipedia research.

2015: 10-3

2016: 10-3

2017: 8-5

2018: 10-3

2019: 9-4

2020: 2-4

2021: 12-2

2022: 13-1

2023: 9-0 (as of 11/9/23)

Also, One report stated Stallions bought tickets to games over the past 3 years which would include the 2021 season.  I do see that he was "hired" in 2022, so was he doing a "Side Job" before he got hired?

So, that is an interesting point.

Did he start this on his own accord. Then maybe he got promoted/hired because of what he was doing?

Yea, I think the image should have backed it off a year. So, 2015 to 2019: 56-18. Let's dump 2020 because of the COVID season. 2021 thru Present: 34-3.

That is possible, and just to give a benefit of a doubt, maybe he did this all on his own to “earn” the job and Harbaugh never knew.  Still, I do not see how he could have financed this on his salary.  I would love to see the money trail.

In the below particle it states that:

It is legal under NCAA rules to steal an opponent’s signs. It is against the rules to “in-person scout.” Coaches routinely decipher signs via television broadcast, coaching film and even in-game. They also routinely “share” their findings with other coaches who are about to play a certain team.”

not sure who is saying they routinely share with other coaches but if true that it negates the info shared with Purdue.

So the Big 10 levies punishment for breaking rules by potentially breaking their own rules.  The handbook seems to state that the NCAA investigation needs to finish first before additional punishment from the conference.

From the Big 10 handbook:

32.2.2(C) NCAA Initiated Cases. The Compliance and Reinstatement Subcommittee shall review violations by member universities as determined by the NCAA and may impose penalties in addition to those imposed by the NCAA for any violations.

1. Where the NCAA initiates a preliminary or official inquiry with a member university the Conference will cooperate with university and NCAA representatives in the processing of that case through the normal NCAA investigation, hearing and appeal processes.

2. While the case will be processed through normal NCAA channels, the Conference Compliance and Reinstatement Subcommittee shall review the case and may impose additional penalties, if warranted, subsequent to the NCAA action.

On the surface that seems to be the case, but often there are multiple clauses that impact each other in various situations or they may be a clause “at discretion of” and similar. I would be interested to see the Big 10’s counter argument.

What if the Big 10 started investigating before the NCAA (i.e. the NCAA didn't initiate it)?

Based on the timeline provided in the letter given to Michigan Friday, the NCAA notified the conference.  The letter makes no mention that the conference had a separate investigation or that the conference had asked the NCAA to investigate.  Events detailed after the call on Oct. 18th by the conference are reactionary to receiving information from the NCAA.

A. The NCAA’s Initial Call to the University and the Conference About the Scheme On October 18, the President of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the “NCAA”), Charlie Baker, scheduled a call with me, other senior leadership from the Conference, and senior leadership from the University. During that call, the NCAA disclosed to both the Conference and the University that it had received highly credible evidence of a wide-ranging, multi-year in-person, off campus scouting scheme orchestrated by a noncoaching staff member of the University’s football program.

There were several extraordinary aspects of this call. It is rare and outside the NCAA’s typical protocols for the NCAA to disclose information about an active investigation to institutions other than the institution under investigation....

C. The NCAA Shares with the Conference the Master Spreadsheet Detailing the Extensive In-Person Sign-Stealing Activities Also on October 19, pursuant to my request to see first-hand the credible evidence in the NCAA’s possession, another senior-level Conference staff member and I participated in a videoconference with the NCAA...

There is no regulation that conferences must wait on the NCAA to finish its investigation. Especially if the evidence is clear as day that the team was violating NCAA rules and B1G rules.

You conveniently cut off the remainer of the statement...

Quote

However, the NCAA stated and believed that the disclosure was necessary due to the unprecedented scope of the then-alleged scheme, and because of the significant impact the impermissible scheme could have on competition during the current football season. It was also extraordinary that the NCAA President arranged for and participated in the call, underscoring not only the severity of the allegations but the immediate impacts. All of these circumstances were a clear statement from the NCAA that the nature and reliability of the evidence they had received indicated that the improper scheme relating to the University’s football team was ongoing and created a substantial risk of compromising the integrity of football competitions this season.

Just because the NCAA doesn't usually do something, doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't do something.

    • First (12 holes) round in a year, maybe the third round in five years. After prioritizing family for a long time, I’m ready to play more golf. We moved back where I grew up and started playing golf. The course is close, but only six holes and pretty short, so the longest club I bring is a 4i. It is very undulated, with a lot of elevation changes and 4/6 greens are blind shots. The long game was relatively good (relative to my game and swing). Got things to work on, but the current state is manageable. One OB. Wedges and short game was atrocious. Chunking like I was making a garden. On the worst hole I chunked a 58° approach, then chunked three chips in a row… Time to search up some chipping topics and start practicing. I’ll take this over bad long game and good short game. The short game is easier to fix. Shot a net +17(!), gross +23, over 12 holes.
    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
