Poor Rory. Must be sobering to experience first hand how big a chasm there is between him and Scottie. I think Scottie snuffed him out to a point where even his driver quit on him. He and Jordan probably out there in the wilderness playing Marco/Polo looking for their way back.

The fair-weather Rory didn't do well. Maybe it's something with the nature of his swing, but his iron play and wedge game is not sharp. Also, his around the green stats this week were pretty poor for him. I always thought he was one of the better short game players. He just can't put the complete game together.

I think what makes scottie unlikable in the eyes of many, is he acts like he doesn't want to be there.

I don't get that. Just because someone isn't outwardly emoting their emotions after every shot doesn't mean they do not want to be there.

This take and support reasoning in this article (not the writer but the radio host) is as dumb as a box-a-rox. It is a 100% take by someone who has little to no understanding or depth of the actual golf being played. I am picturing the guy or girl who spends more time in front of the mirror trying out different outfits to wear for the round than warming up at the range.

They are comparing him to Arnie, Jack, Greg, Phil and Tiger as guys who were the face of the PGA Tour. They all do have more charisma than Scottie. I enjoy watching Scottie play golf. I think he gets appreciated by more of those who are seriously into the weeds about golf. I am not sure he appeals to your casual golf fan. They might someone else more exciting to watch. Especially if they are into the social media stuff. If golf wants to have someone as the face of golf, with the intent of bringing in more people to the game, then it probably isn't Scottie. The issue is, Scottie is so much better than the next person right now, it is hard to push the more charismatic guy when they do not win.

PGA Tour really got lucky having 5 people span multiple generations that were good and charismatic. They finally hit a time where the best player doesn't have that combo.

We have too many casual 'fans' anyway. Good riddance.

All hail King Sceff, repeller of the casual fan! Heh heh.

Can you imagine what the press would do to Ben Hogan if he was playing in his prime today? Cold and aloof. But I would love to watch him play!
