what does everyone think of chipping irons?

I just don’t feel it’s that revolutionary that I’d give up a club for one.

They are fine. The big sole could be a confidence thing for some so it translates to performance starting out but long term advantage is questionable.

I have 10 clubs in my bag at present and am not willing to add a chipper.  It doesn't help that my putter is least favourite and worst club.  From just off the green I prefer something like a PW rather than a putter or even potentially a chipper.  I can control distance better with a short iron or wedge for most lenghts over 40 feet or so I reckon..

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Soft 500 golf ball

My thought - if you can chip with an 8 iron, you don't need a chipper club.
