Big Bertha Fairway Woods Ping G2 HL (Black Dot) Ping M/B (56º & 52º) Mizuno MP-R Series (60º) Odyssey Black Series i #7

That's a difficult question. I'm a lot older than you and have been fortunate enough to play many beautiful courses. My wife is from Colorado and there are lots of great courses there so I hope you get to play some of them. Here are the nicest I've played by State or Country:

NH - Hanover CC

CT - Wintonbury Hills
NY - Wykagyl CC, Atunyote or Bethpage Black
NJ - Balleyowen
PA - Mountain Manor (it's the only one I've played there)
MD - Bulle Rock
VA - Golden Horseshoe or Royal New Kent (lots of other great courses in VA)
NC - Rivers Edge
SC - Caledonia or the Dunes
GA - Bear's Best
FL - World Woods, Bay Hill or Orange County National
AL - Cambrian Ridge (and just about all of the RTJ trail courses)
LA - Eastover
KY - Lassing Point
OH - Blue Ash
IL - Cog Hill #4
MI - Moose Ridge
WI - Troy Burne (but soon to be Whistling Straits)
MN - Stone Ridge
CO - The Broadmoor or Fossil Trace
TX - Cypresswood
AZ - The Boulders (South), Troon North, We-ko-Pa, Grayhawk (Raptor) or Dinosaur Mtn (so many nice ones there)
NV - Wolf Creek
UT -Coral Canyon
CA - Pasatiempo or Olympic Club
England - Sunningdale (Old) or Walton Heath (Old)
Scotland - Turnberry (Ailsa) or Western Gailes (This is the most under-rated course I've played

Played once in a scramble at Avila CC in Tampa, excellent course and excellent practice facility (like 6 immaculate chipping and pitching greens), ProV1 practice balls on the range, arranged in a pyramid of course --- was tempted to do a Tin Cup and sneak a few in the bag, but I didn't.

Best public course I've played is World Woods, Pine Barrens course. Looking to hit the course a few more times this summer at the twilight rates.

I played at the North River Club in Beaufort NC a few weeks ago. It is by far the nicest course I've ever played. It only opened about 7 months ago, so it's not as nice as it will be. I cannot wait to go back.

Mike

I am so poor and unfortunate to live in South Dakota, someone remind me again why I live here.... Is it the high wages?? uh nope. How about the great weather?? nope again, they just got over a foot of snow on the west end of the state. Ugh.

I've never played a "famous" course before, but the nicest course I've ever played is down in Omaha, NE (3 hrs south). Quarry Oaks is the name, immaculately groomed and a really fun layout.

http://www.quarryoaks.com/

I just got back from a quick weekend trip to Tampa, Fl and we played a round at Pebble Creek, it was nice and pretty cool to see the gators all over, but I liked Quarry Oaks better.

Keep the great courses coming boys and girls, I love reading about the fortunes of others.

I would have to say the Kingsmill River Course. Played there a week or so before the last PGA event was held there(now the "5th" major on the LPGA Tour). The course was in the best condition of any golf course I have ever played on. It gave me a new appreciation for what these guys on Tour can do. I don't even remember what I shot but it was pretty bad, but I didn't care at all. We basically had the course to ourselves because they limited rounds directly prior to the event.

Yeah, Trump National (LA) if that's the one you are tlaking about, is in pretty great condition.

The Paiute courses in Las Vegas are the other aesthetically nicest courses I've played. Immaculate condition, escpecially considering they are in the middle of the desert. I heard that because the courses are on Indian land (The Paiute Reservation) that they have no restrictions on water use. And believe me, they take advantage, as green as a course you'll see.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
