I was actually cheering for Poulter to win or at least get into a playoff. I'm not a big fan of the guy's attitude at times, but he does have serious game. And his brash attitude makes things interesting. We need more guys like Kim and Poulter contending every week.

Ditto that. He had fire down the stretch and his -1 for the day was excellent given the weather conditions. In addition, if Kim could have only putted...

So Ian Poulter shoots a stellar 69 and finishes up at +7, which at the time looked like it had a real chance to win the golf tournament. I found myself actually quite entertained by his play, especially on the back nine when he had it going. So he gets done and I am very interested to hear what he's got to say and for once hear something positive from/about Ian Poulter and what does he do? He declines an interview. I'm probably reading too much into that because of his rep. I realize he wanted to stay loose but Harrington wasn't close to finishing so he had plenty of time to say a few words then go to the range. Again, anyone else and I may not even be thinking about this... just seemed like a typical move from Poulter.

Wow, that's pretty shady. I used to have a pretty serious temper on the course (and on the tennis court) and I didn't act that foolish. And I was a teenager, not a grown man.

He had a chance to win the Open, giving an interview instead of preparing himself was not going to help him triumph in a play off, I must say I imagine Woods would of done exactly the same thing.

Two responses:

No, Woods would never be behind in a major waiting for someone else to finish... And if he was, he would have flown back to Florida. This thread has run its course. Let's not keep adding to it by talking about the "loosely related."

Borrowing a word from IanJames' Fabregas comment. Poulter's obviously a class act. Babbling 8th-grade-girl-like retorts at a kid who insults him on the internet. That's the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

i swear when i golf and im a nice person... dont know why swearing would make freddy couples any less of a good person. now swearing at other people is kind of a dick move. it seems like poulter kinda has that british snobbiness. i dont really mind it i think it makes him kinda cool and entertaining. he isnt fake and doesnt have much of a filter. but i wouldnt like him if he was being a dick to me either.

Ok, im not going to read 14 pages on replys, but if you were taking photos (even if he was not taking his shot while you were doing so), YOU are in the wrong.... End of story!

How is taking pictures wrong if they aren't while the player is swinging?

I don't think it serves anyone well to publish photos of pros flipping off the ball or anything.

Interesting enough as the whole point of the thread seems to be to give a VERBAL picture of the incident.

I do agree, however, that Ian is known for looking for excuses to his missed shots, but he is also known to be a fun and respected guy amongst his colleagues.

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

You're wrong, and I wasn't. "End of story."

Verbal pictures aren't pictures. A non-golfer's not going to read 2000 words describing a situation, but they can react to an image of a person who is clearly a golfer misbehaving.

And that said, it's now clear Ian has major issues with flipping the bird, so he deserves any shame he gets these days as perhaps it'll bring about a change. But I doubt it.

If you have the credentials (which it appears he did), then you can take all the pictures you want.

There is no excuse for offesive, obnoxious behavior.

Actully i forgot to ask a question witch might change what i think.....

Are you aloud to take Cameras onto the golf course??? Do they have signs that say you can't??? ect?
Anyways i think you get what i mean. In Australian events we are not aloud to take cameras on the course at all, at the masters i seen about 5 people actully kicked out of the event for this reason.

When you're a credentialed member of the press with a photo pass, you can, yes.

    • Day 10: 2/16/2025 Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.  My new priority pieces.
    • Day 26 (16 Feb 25) - Basically a repeat of yesterday- only it was a bit more expanded chips/pitches - 7i, 9i, 50° and 58°.   Big exception was I was hitting groups of 5 one club at a time.  Focused on a specific target point - and coming smoothly through the ball, not punchy.  Got it right about 3 out of 5 - more work needed.
    • You probably haven't turned much and instead have just pulled your left arm across your chest.
    • Things didn’t work out with the cutting horse barn my wife was working for there in Virginia. Their Texas facility we were supposed to move down to ended up delayed for at least an extra year after they’d had us leave Virginia to meet them down there “shortly”. So we ended up getting some land by her family in Missouri and building a house of our own down here instead. Not as many courses, but there is one 5 minutes from the house that’s only $62/mo for both of us to be members at and other nicer ones within a reasonable drive as well.    @Rick_D I’ll try to remember to let you know when I’m heading up that direction. It may happen more frequently in the coming year since a dealer for a business I started recently is based out of St Charles so making deliveries myself might be more economical than shipping.
    • I don’t know why my swing got so vertical there. That wasn’t normal.    What did you mean by point 3? I get the hip turn portion.
