That is all.
âI'm glad I brought this course, this monster, to its knees.â

He deserved to win with a closing round 65. He played great this weekend and expect great things from him the rest of the season.

I'm not a huge fan of Anthony Kim, but it would be nice to see him win a couple more events this year and possibly one of the two remaining majors. He is young and loaded with talent, and that's what the golf world is looking for. It doesn't hurt he has two very solid wins on the resume' either. He is impressive.

Player of the Year

Granted he gets one more win. Or 5 more top-10s two of which in the remaining majors. At worst he'll get Comeback Player of the Year.

He was my pick in our pool at work for this week.

Like him or not, he has game. I will absolutely have a bet on him to win the PGA Championship.

AK seems to have matured a lot in the last year or so. mostly, he doesn't seem to be so full of himself. i don't mind confidence, but he was,as i stress, was, just a bit too cocky, therefore not likable enough. looks like he's on the right track now, listening to his interviews lately.

It's interesting to note that when Tiger was busy dominating everyone for years on end, the story went that no one had the backbone to stand up to Tiger. So now this kid comes along, and he's cocky, and flashy, and he has game - a lot more game than Poulter and Rory - and he gets flak for being arrogant. Isn't he what golf has wanted to see for years now? He's the next one to step up, and he seems like he has the juevos to do it. Do we really expect him to genuflect at the altar of the great game now that he's made it? Isn't the passive rollover act from Scott and Goosen and Els and Garcia getting a little old?

I liked him before and I like him now. He's really good, he'll get better, and he's mentally strong.

And he should be cocky. That's what great athletes do, whether they show it or not.

I agree with CPHoya. This kid definitely has a swagger about him that I enjoy watching - and he has the game to back it up. I followed him on Thursday (I like the smaller crowds) and enjoyed watching him around the greens. This kid was having fun out there and not timid with any of his shots (Saw him go for it on the Par 5 9th hole in two with his hybrid while everyone else in his group including JB Holmes was laying up) This kid has confidence. I hope he keeps it up and wins a couple of more this year.

Driver: 913D2, 9.5°

Hybrid: Rescue Dual TP, 19°

Kim was bombing it but if you were following them did you see Holmes drive on 17? 360!!!

I for one, don't like that 'cockyness' or swagger that Kim has. Lots of people say they like him being cocky, but the same people probably don't like Rory Sabbatini for the same reaason...

Personally, I'm a fan of cocky so long as you don't go off into dipshit, lala land like Woody Austin often does (and specifically, when he shot 70 to Woods' 63 yet "outplayed" him), or like Rory Sabbatini did when he made the comments about Tiger being "more beatable than ever" after soundly beating Rory.

But yeah, Anthony Kim isn't quite in the same class as those two guys.

The problem I had with Anthony Kim is that, when he made the original comments, he'd yet to do much on the PGA Tour. Two wins this year have gone a long ways towards justifying his cockiness. Granted, both were at non-Tiger tournaments, but if he keeps playing well he'll knock Tiger off in a few tournaments next year and for years afterwards.

An example of a cocky kid that still hasn't done much? Jason Day. I'm not anointing him as anything but a kid having a good year on the PGA Tour right now, and it gets annoying when the press leaps at every chance to throw up a Tiger challenger. So dumb.

Amen to that! Until someone achieves a resume that is even 1/2 of Lefty's, I don't really want to hear comparisons to Tiger.

    • OK guys. @iacas put me on again and I would definitely like to attend one or both days. Life is a balancing act as you all know, and obligations must be respected. that being said I am almost certain I will be able to make Saturday post-call, and if I can have the whole weekend rearranged (I suffer for you people) I could possibly play both days!  will confirm further and let you know, but pencil (not pen) me in for Sat 21

    • Um... The Browns? ... hmm.... I really don't have any issue at all with the Shedeur Sanders pick in Round 5. If he doesn't work out, fine. It's a fifth round pick on a quarterback, no big deal.  What I'm fascinated by is the Dillon Gabriel pick in round 3. I heard a lot of folks said that Gabriel might not get drafted at all. Seems like they could have waited and still got him if they wanted him.  What I'm already sick of is people saying the Browns have 5 quarterbacks. They don't. Watson won't play in 2025 due to his torn Achilles. Ideally, he won't play in 2026. But they can't cut him. They will actually have to pay more against the cap if they cut him than if they just lock him in somebody's basement and forget about him. Think about this. In the last two seasons The Browns have had 6 games where their QB has thrown for over 300 yards. ... None of them were named Deshaun Watson. Three 300 yard games by geriatric Joe Flacco and 3 by mentally unstable, Jameis Winston. ... Including Winston's almost 500 yards against the Broncos.  Deshaun Watson sticks out loud! I'm hoping he never suits up again. The Browns can just pay him for the next 3 years and then maybe he'll go away. (73 Mil against the cap in both 2025 and 2026. And then 27 Mil against the cap in 2027... sheesh.)  So, The Browns currently have 4 quarterbacks, not 5. I'm not sure any of them are worth a pile of rat droppings. But if not, they got 2 first round picks next year. Then in 2028 Watson's contract will finally come off the books and they can stop paying that waste of a uniform and move forward with whom ever ends up behind center.
