I searched but found no review on the new Nickent Pipe Putter. Has anybody else had a chance to try one of these out? I got one from my father and is it nice! It aligns better than any putter I have ever used. After I started using it I immediately noticed that I started the ball on line much more often than I had with my two ball. It looks a little funny at first but once you get used to it man the putts start to drop. Check it out if you have a chance, mine made the starting lineup the day I got it.

I should have made myself clear I meant no Sand Trap review, there are plenty of other reviews out there. And yes it IS very funny looking. In fact my dad has had this putter for a few months but I wouldn't try it because of the looks. If you can get by the looks it really does work.

Don has this one. I think he has some thoughts. I'll send him this-a-ways...

Is that the putter with the PVC pipe on the end? I don't think i could ever use that because of the way it looks.

It looks like a PVC pipe but it really isn't.

I've putted around at the pro shop with the pipe putter, but couldn't get past its looks. There are quite a few putters that would do the same thing without the poor looks in my book.

If it works, more power to ya.

I've used the original Pipe putter (the full mallet) on the course, and I have the two newest blade models for review. I've only putted with them on carpet, so don't take this as a full-scale review.

I was actually surprised at how nice the new Pipe blades set up. The pipe-like protrusion makes the putter very T-like. The long part of the T makes the sole much longer than a typical blade-type putter, which helps the putter set up very square. The blade Pipes feel very solid on putts that are struck near the center of the face. If you hit one way out on the toe or heel, it doesn't feel good, since there's no mass out there at all. But, then again, if you hit your putts way out on the heel or toe you probably aren't good enough to care.

I'll hopefully be able to get out on the course a few times in the next couple weeks to get a full review up on the site. Check back around Super Bowl time!

I think a significant portion of putting is confidence. Some weird putters inspire confidence, some take it away. This may be one or the other for you.

    • I wouldn't mind getting a Jupiter hat since I live down here, plus it's Tiger's team. I enjoyed how much faster it was, as well as the grass tees. I'm looking forward to Tiger's first match next week. Shame, it looks like the entire season's sold out. I live right down the road from it. Oh well.
    • I'm wearing a Ballfrogs hat in my photo with Lou from the other day (and I wore it again today): This was the WORST the production and live show are going to be, and they got a lot of things right with only room to grow. I think it'll only get better (not wildly so, but incrementally). And it didn't help that it was a blowout, and yet… it was still pretty interesting. Singles was weirdly a little bit of a drag. I almost wonder if that's not a mid-season change.
    • I missed about 11 weeks of golf this summer due to a back issue, and my distance is still not recovered.  Yet my Handicap Index is 7.0, as compared to 9.1 last January.  So apparently I'm better!  TBH, I haven't improved any skills, with the possible exception of making better decisions.  Ah well, it'll be fun in the new year, as it always is.
    • Yeah, it started Tuesday night.  I watched the first hour and a half or so of it. I enjoyed it. It was fast paced, different, entertaining, etc. I think it's a perfect thing to watch in the winter when good portions of the country are stuck inside and have nothing else to do on Monday evenings. (First week was on a Tuesday but the rest of the matches are on Mondays I believe) The whole thing ran pretty smoothly IMO. Technology seemed to work fine, and if this is the "worst" that it's going to look and feel, I'm here for it.  My wife bought a Boston Common shirt last night because she likes the logo. I think Boston Common is the best logo and I'll probably pick up a hat or shirt from them as well. There isn't one team that is made up of 4 players that I like a lot, but if I had to pick a team to be a fan of, I'd pick LA or Team Jupiter, but I feel like Team Jupiter will be a fan favorite simply because of Tiger.
