Anyone using a big ass putter grip?

Recently picked up a Yes! Tiffany and I think the putter must be named after the size of the grip. It's barely bigger than the shaft. Very girly. I'm getting better with it but found that I was griping harder than normal because it's just too small for my hands.

In an effort to prove that I'm still as dumb as I look, I listened to the guy at Golfsmith today and went with a monster grip. "all the pro's are using them, blah, blah, blah"

It actually does feel pretty good and has passed the deadly 10' flat straight carpet putt test at home.

I put a Shark grip, I think that was the name. Anyway it was a large putter grip. It was okay and felt good, but I had problems with it going in and out of the bag. Admittedly a small problem, but enough to annoy me. Went back to a standard grip and wraped it with athletic tape, like the tape we use to put on wood bats back in the 60's. That was good, but the tape got ragged after awhile.

To point the best thing I've found so far for putting is using a forward press at the beginning of the stroke and do a nice, even stroke.

I have a Scotty Cameron with an oversize grip from Winn. I know that KJ Choi uses an over size putter grip.

I like the grip but if you have the yips it might not cure your problem. Try this:

1) putt with your shoulder only and take your hands out of the putt
2) loose grip
3) try different grips positions
4) work on distance control
5) short putts keep the putter low to the ground on the back swing
6) no negative thoughts
7) work on a good stroke instead of making the putt

keep your putter grip and improve your putting stroke.

I started back playing in May after a 4 year layoff from the game.

I took my putters to the course and figured out which seemed to work best for me. I noted the 2 ball worked better and I holed more putts if I crouched over more (I know it's not good form....but I just wanted to hole out putts). I found by the end of 2 rounds that I was getting a little wristy and popping at the ball like the old school Golf Channel video footage.

Went to a golf shop to pick up some tees, balls and gloves one day and saw they had these huge red Winn grips with the Odyssey logo on them. I had them cut 2" off my putter shaft and put one of these on.

It's been really great ever since. Wrist action is gone....

KJ's is HUGE ass. Mine is simply big ass.

Good advice for sure. That along with the new grip and I'm golden.

No. But I have a very old putter and the grip smells like ass.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, I believe it smells more like feet than ass.

I put a Crown Jumbo grip not quite 20 years ago on the putter I used in high school. Used it that way for about 10 years but all of a sudden it quit making putts (it was the putter, not me!). But I brought it out today along with my long putter and I am going to try them on the putting green before my round tomorrow. I may change, I may not, we'll see how it goes.

I have a odyssey Two-Ball White Hot Mallet that I am going to put a king sized Odyssey grip on I found at Edwin Watts Today. I will let you know how it turns out.

haha! That grip is STILL being sold today and (again according to the golfsmith guy) still very popular. Got my new gripped putter out for the first time today and have to say I like the change. I think I pulled two putts, but overall my misses were bad reads or too much/little power. Liking the putter and the grip.
