I guess I'll do mine...

Hole 1, 307 yards, par 4--- 3 or 4 iron off the tee, 9 iron thru sand wedge to a two tiered green

Hole 2, 304 yards, par 4--- downhill, I hit 5-iron and a 52 or 56 degree wedge

Hole 3, 474 yards, par 5--- flat but have to keep right, 2-iron off the tee, and anything from 2-iron again to 7-iron to a small green guarded by a bunker.

Hole 4, 185 yards, par 3, 4-iron thru about 7-iron depending on the wind

Hole 5, 412 yards, par 4, 3-iron off the tee to a tight fairway, and a 6 or 7 iron in

Hole 6, 311 yards, par 4, stupid stupid green, 4-iron, and either 52 or 56 degree in (except today I hit 3-wood, 8-iron)

Hole 7, 139 yards, par 3, 9-iron or wedge into the green though I hit sand wedge today...

Hole 8, 338 yards, par 4, 3-wood off the tee, and a 70-yard pitch over a massive bunker, green slopes toward you however

Hole 9, 406 yards, par 4, 3-wood over the water, 6 or 7-iron in up the hill

Out, 2,876 yards, par 35

Hole 10, 338 yards, par 4, 2-iron off the tee, and one of my wedges in...

Hole 11, 134 yards, par 3, Pitching wedge or 52 degree to an unusually deep green for a par-three

Hole 12, 458 yards, par 4, the first time I hit Driver on any hole, usually 8 or 9 iron in... (today I had a full blooded three-wood from 220)

Hole 13, 432 yards, par 4, Driver off the tee, and between 8-iron and wedge to the green

Hole 14, 315 yards, par 4, 4-iron off the tee, and 56-degree into the green

Hole 15, 332 yards, par 4, 3-iron off the tee and a gap wedge into the green

Hole 16, 395 yards, par 4, 2-iron off the tee, wedge into the green.., water over (wedge usually to first third of green)

Hole 17, 176 yards, par 3, 7 or 8 iron to green deceptively deep...

Hole 18, 548 yards, par 5, before 5-degree driver, 3-wood off the tee, short of the pond at 300, 4-iron to lay-up, and sand wedge to two-tiered green...

Now, Driver, anywhere between 3-wood, and 4-iron into the green as it is uphill... Today, I hit driver 3-wood, 7-iron straight into the wind

In, 3,128 yards, par 35

Total, 6,004 yards, par 70

any questions?

Why do you hit your driver so rarely?

Don't need it... there are only 3 par-4s over 400 yards on my course... and 3 is a joke par-5 so I hit a 2-iron off the tee

onthehunt526, I know the course you're playing, Hillendale. Although the course isn't long, I'm still impressed you don't play driver once in awhile to try to drive some of the greens. I mean, you could potentially eagle the first 3 holes if you hit two exceptional drives on the opening two holes. Anyway, I'll do mine and you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Hole 1, 307 yards, par 4--- Usually driver if I'm comfortable with it that day, then 60 degree wedge. If I'm not comfortable with the driver, usually 5 Iron to a PW.
Hole 2, 304 yards, par 4--- Driver, then 60 degree wedge from somewhere around the green (usually rough) or putter the one time I drove it.

Hole 3, 474 yards, par 5--- Driver then 7-iron. Tough hole for me as I usually hit a low draw and I end up with ball above my feet from the rough.

Hole 4, 185 yards, par 3, Usually play 5 or 6 iron but I had the wind one day and hit 7 iron to the back of the green.

Hole 5, 412 yards, par 4, Long-iron of some sort usually to a 6 or 7 iron. Tough second shot because of my low ball flight with middle irons.

Hole 6, 311 yards, par 4, Definitely a tough green if the pin is in the back. Easy hole otherwise. Usually 5 iron to wedge.

Hole 7, 139 yards, par 3, PW or 52, almost hit a hole in one on this one. Pin in the front, pulled a 52 to the left bank of the green and the ball spin down almost going in.

Hole 8, 338 yards, par 4, Driver off the tee, usually get somewhere bunker high, wedge into the green. Really a suspect green though as it's almost impossible to hold.

Hole 9, 406 yards, par 4, Great hole, usually driver to a 9 iron or PW.

Out, 2,876 yards, par 35

Hole 10, 338 yards, par 4, Driver to 60 degree wedge. I always seem to either birdie or par this hole.

Hole 11, 134 yards, par 3, Same, PW or 52 to a deep and flat green.

Hole 12, 458 yards, par 4, Driver to anywhere from a 6-8 iron.

Hole 13, 432 yards, par 4, Driver off the tee then usually somewhere from an 8 to a PW as long as I'm not in trouble. Going left is a problem of mine.

Hole 14, 315 yards, par 4, 5-iron to some sort of wedge. Driver is way too risky.

Hole 15, 332 yards, Driver to 60 degree wedge, easy hole.

Hole 16, 395 yards, par 4, Great hole, 5-iron to anywhere from an 8-PW.

Hole 17, 176 yards, par 3, The deepest tee box is under construction so I've been playing up from about 140-150 and I hit PW.

Hole 18, 548 yards, par 5, Incredible hole. I can get driver to the hazard (actually gone in it 2 or 3 times. But if I hit a good drive, i can usually get a 3-wood to the green as long as there is no wind. If a bad drive or I decide to play it safe off the tee, I'll lay up trying to get into the 60-80 yard range then go with my 60.

Bluff point. One of the oldest courses in America. built in the 1890's and designed by A.W. Tillinghast. front nine has some beautiful scenery of lake Champlain.

hole 1- 304 yard par 4, its sort of a dogleg but the hole is straight ahead with trees in the way and the fairway is off to the left- 5 iron puts me 100 yards out. pw.

2- 344 yard par 4. same as before- 4 hybrid then a pw or 9i

3- 419 yard par 4. dog leg left- driver then a lay up with a 4 iron. chip to the green.

4- 561 yard par 5. down hill- driver, 4h then a sw or pw to the green. green is protected by sand and its a tough green if you don't get it close to the pin.

5- 166 yard par 3- plays longer than it says and sometimes stong winds left to right since it is right on the water. 5i.

6- 365 yard par 4- driver, 6i.

7- 331 yard par 4- drive,r 7i.

8- 512 yard par 5. this is usually my blow up hole. water in front of the green with some trees around it.- driver, 5i in front of the water, 9i or pw.

9- 127 yard par 3- 8i or 9i depending on the wind.

10- 186 yard par 3, tough hole, water in the front.- 4h.

11- 390 yard par 4- driver, 4h.

12- 524 yard par 5- driver, 4h, (i can't hit a 3i or a wood off the deck) 8i-pw.

13- 204 yard par 3- 4h.

14- 262 yard par 4- driver, putt...i wish. usually a chip or pitch.

15- 400 yard par 4- driver, 4h-6i.

16- 178 yard par 3, up hill- 4h.

17- 541 yard par 5, dogleg left.- driver, 4h, pw.

18- 495 yard par 5, up hill.- driver, 4h, 9i or pw.

Yes, with your distance why don't you play from a longer tee set?

I was wondering the same thing, unless those are the tips from where he plays. I only play the tips no matter where I play, even if we play from shorter tees in a tournament at a course, i practice from the tips. It seems to yield better results that way.

There is no longer tee set. This course has recently become my "home course" as well since I moved to the same area that onthehunt526 resides.

I don't think that tips at a course would only be 6,004 yards, heck that's shorter then most of the white tee's here.

Here is what i would play at one of my courses ( 9 hole course), assuming I hit each shot the way I wanted to:
Hole 1: 520 yard par 5
driver:hopefully with a small fade
hybrid:just need to keep it in the fairway
7-pw: really depends how I hit the hybrid, most hit it far enough to reach elevated green.

Hole 2: 270 yard par 4
two options here hit driver going at the green, if I don't reach hit wedge in. or hit hybrid, then go in with a pitching wedge.

Hole 3: 165 yard par 3 (uphill)
depends where the tees are, probably a 6 or 7 iron, though

Hole 4: 450 yard par 4
driver/5-7 iron or hybrid hybrid

Hole 5: 290 yard par 4
hybrid-9 or pw

Hole 6: 260 yard par 4 (on the side slope of a hill, everything bounds right)
hybrid, pw

Hole 7: 530 yard par 5 (last 120 over water)
driver (or hybrid) followed by a 5-8 iron to the point with a 8-pw over the water

Hole 8: 140 yard par 3
8-9 iron depends on the day, the wind ext.

Hole 9: 166 yard par 3
6-7 iron, again depends on conditions ext.

In the bag:
Driver: r7 quad v2 stiff
3-Wood: XLS
Hybrid: X
Irons: CG Golds 3-GWSW: x forged 56/13LW: Vokey sm 60/.08Putter: Callie 35''Ball: pro v1

supposedly Mary (the owner) is planning some changes to the course, like at 2... is supposed to be in the 450s whenever they get done with it... three could be 580 if she had a brain. four is gonna be in the 220s after next year... Six is a joke, 12 will be in the 470s if and when she gets her head straight... but 6,004 is the longest tees on the course... I usually play at Robert Trent Jones at Cornell... But I have a lifetime membership at another course... that I can reciprocal at Hillendale for next to nothing... and I can golf Hillendale in January... (well if its not got snow on it)... but 6,004 yards is the longest set of tees... I could do Hiawatha from the golds if you want if it makes you happier...

And in response to you jjb333, I've never had the notion to drive the first two holes and have a stupid short iron for a second to three and make three eagles in a row... (which I have never done... the best I've ever started is 3, 2, 3) I've holed out more wedges for eagle at 2 than I have driven the green and one putted... I could potentially break that notoriously high course record of 63. (which I've tied 3 times)... But I won't hit driver much... A couple days ago... I hit driver only once... I also carry a 5 degree driver so I can actually hit driver over the first green, probably in the woods at two, and I tend to hit it over on 9 on 3, so I'm used to the 4-iron at one, the 5-iron at two, and 2-iron at three...

jjb333 if you are pulling your driver O.B. left on 13, hit 3-wood... I did recently swap out my 2-iron for a 5-wood so any two-irons I was hitting, I'm hitting a 5-yard cut with my 5-wood pretty much the same distance...
