Hey guys, as the title suggests, my hands are constantly sore when i first pick up a club for the day. It usually takes about 10 - 15 practice drives to get my hands warmed up to where they are playable. Even when i don't have a club in my hands they still seem a little weak. What do you guys suggest? P.S. My grip is pretty light, so, its not from gripping the club too hard.

I'd get some of those "squeezie" things and start excercising my hands / forearms. I have never had any trouble and I sit behind a desk most of the day... (Although, I did change the brakes on teh car Saturday, so I am not totally allergic to physical labor...

Thats probably a good idea. I'll have to pic a couple up.

also I would check to see if you have the right grips on your clubs. the wrong size could be part of the problem.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I would say hit the weights, and totally tear your hands apart, then once they heal you will be good for a long time

You might want to check if you turn or twist the club in your grip during the swing.

My first question would be what model of grips are you using. I had the same problem a year or so ago; I had installed the Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound grips on all my clubs. Honestly loved the grips...but I had the same symptoms. Heck, I'd wake up in the middle of the night with kind of an arthritic pain feeling in my hands. Only thing I could think of was the grips (it was during golf season) so I switched them out. Got the Winn DSi grips (at that time) and it all went away. Now have the Lampkin Crossline cords on my new clubs, and while I haven't played as much as I'd like this summer (stupid medical problems) I've yet to have the same problems.

Again to clarify...I am in no way bashing the Golf Pride Multi grips; I loved them...they just didn't like me.

They get worn out pretty fast too... I'd say, put some creams after the round, like those women use

Please see your doctor, It could be something medically causing this, since you mentioned weakness I'm a little concerned for you. Other than that, work on hand strengthening and stretching all of your hand ( Arthritis may be setting in also, so softer grips will help. Good Luck and may God speed your recovery.

I've had sore finger joints since I started playing earlier this year...but only on my right hand. I now have problems clenching my right fist in the mornings. Not quite sure what's causing it though, and since I'm not planning to quit golf anytime soon, I guess I'll just have to live with it...
