Ok, I'm about to upgrade from a "teen set" to a regular iron set... I'm looking at mizuno mx200 but that's a bit too expensive... Is there anything that is about one year old that is still pretty good, but not as expensive?

I'm looking for something "forgiving" in the mizuno line, not one for like professionals.

I felt that the Mizuno MX-25 was a very forgiving set of irons.

I was sort of looking for something in the mizuno line since I tested those out during a demo day and compared to other brands. What's the most forgiving in the mizuno line?

MX-25s would be what you want. They are forgiving, are forged and can be bought used for less than half of what a new set of MX-200s would cost.

Oh, WOW. I just foudn a great deal on these clubs, but they're +1 inch longer than normal... I was fitted for normal length... I guess I could choke down, but I'm only like 5 foot 5 right now, but I'm growing as I'm 14. Do you think those would work? BTW, they're 399.99 for a full set NEW>

Your current set, are those graphite? It's mostly used by women and young players because of the weight. Many start out with graphite when they are young and move over to iron as they get older, stronger and better.

What clubs are you refering to (am I missing something)?

I don't think I would get +1" clubs unless it's just a deal of a lifetime. You could have them cut down and have the lie adjusted, but I would rather just buy the right clubs in the first place. I wouldn't get graphite shafted irons either. As you grow and your swing speed increases, they may quickly become to whippy for you. FWIW, I have MX900s and love them. They were replaced by MX950s and now MX100s/200s. I bought them new on closeout when the 950 came out. So I would see what kind of deals you can find on the 950s now.

1" longer is pretty long. I think your wrist to the floor would have to be around 38" for that.

mizuno mx 23 for under $244 including shipping on ebay

I agree, very good price for very good clubs.

Graphite is prefered for people with slower swingspeeds (most teens, women and seniors) and for people with wrist problems (because graphite absorbs more of the shock of hitting the ball than steel, so there is less wrist pain) but most people prefer steel shafts because they are more consistent and give better feedback.

Im personally not a fan of graphite (Im not even a fan of graphite shafts on woods), but its really more a matter of personal preference.

After playing with iron for some time I guess most people that does not have physical limitations (women, young, elderly) do not want to change to graphite. Much less feedback and control along with the weight is what I don't like about graphite. The iron shafts hardly weight anything. For those who have tried swinging a shaft without a club knows how weird it feels. The consistency of the club and how the whole ensemble works together is where the iron clubs are best. You feel the ball and swing much better with iron clubs.
