What kind of wedges would you guys recommend?

I'd like some with maximum spin.

Golf is a game in which the ball always lies poorly and the player always lies well.

I'm a fan of the X Forged CGrind with the Mac Daddy groove wedges. They sure chew up balls though.

My buddy seems to like his Cleveland CG14s

Titleist Vokey Spin Milled if you don't mind cast wedges. Callaway X-Forged if you prefer forged. If you go with Vokey you will not be disappointed. If you go with Callaway, the only regret you might have is...."I wonder if I should have got the Vokeys." Either way, you never regret buying the best. Having carried both, and currently gaming both, here's my take....the Callaways are a tad softer, the Vokeys offer a tad more feedback.

JMHO. Good Luck!

Either the mizuno T-series orthe vokey hands down although I have a few friends that are big fans of cleveland, I'd try them all and see what you think.

Mizuno mp 630 9.5 Mitsubishi Fubuki stiff
Taylormade R7 RE*AX 55g Stiff
Taylomade Rescue mid 19* Light metals 95g
Mizuno MX25 4 -52*Gap True Temper Dynalite S/L
Mizuno MP-T 56* / 60*Odyssey White Hot Tour # 1

Mizuno MP-Ts. They are forged and they spin the heck out of the ball. I used to play Vokeys and there forged Mizzies have a lot more feel and outperform the Vokeys.
Not that Vokeys are bad (they are quite good actually), but IMO the mystique of Vokeys is a product of Achusnet's marketing, not some sort of superior design. (No doubt the Titleist guys are gonna get all bent outta shape about that comment)
Thats just my honest opinion though as someone who has played both, take it for whatever its worth.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

I play the taylor tp wedge and they generate serious spin, they actually spin it to much and good at shredding the ball.Good wedge though.

superfast tp 2.0 3 wood stiff
Halo 25 and taylormade tp 19 degree hybrids
miura cb 202 and wedge

I've had mostly vokey and cleveland in the past, although I've owened and tried a few others in the past. I've found that my satisfaction with the wedge has a lot more to do with the loft, lie, and bounce than the actual brand.

I'm planning on upgrading my wedges this year because I've had mine for a very long time now, and they are due for a replacement. I'll probably get the spin milled vokeys. However, I wouldn't rule out the Callaways. I think the Cleveland are fine wedges too as well as many other brands.

"take a couple weeks off - then quit for good"

- X-460 Tour 10.5 Fujikura Stiff
- War Bird 15deg 3 Wood
- MX-23 Irons
- Vokey 52 + 55deg wedges
- 900 60deg Low Bounce - Studio Design 1.5 - Pro V1x - SG4Sun Mountain Carry and Great Divider Cart Bags.

The new Vokeys I bought when I bought my new irons were probably the most significant aspect of the deal. I love them. The two spin milled I have are "maximum spin" for sure. There are plenty of other brands out there. Whatever you get, if they feel good and fit, you will notice the difference and like it.

909D3 (Voodoo, stiff)
King Cobra Comp 5w (YS 5.1 Stiff)
AP1 4,5; AP2 6-P; Vokey 252 08, SM56 14, SM60 08 (Nippon N.S. Pro 950GH Regular)
Newport 2 Mid Slant

I play 3 vokey wedges, love everything about them. I can spin them, hit them high or low whatever the shot calls for. I can't see myself changing wedge brands for a long time. That said my wedges work great for me but maybe not for you. As with all aspects of this game personal preference should trump all other arguments.

I'm in the minority here...

The new Nike VR Wedges. It has a really satisfying click at impact, and a great deal of spin.

MY advice, go to local golf store and hit every wedge you can find until one feels right.

I second the TP RAC Z-Groove wedges ... very nice feel and lots of bite ... I have a 54* that spins great -- allows me to get more aggressive when hitting chips and pitches ... -- K.

    • Rory’s once again in a position to win a major, and The Masters at that, but having BDC breathing down your neck can’t be a good feeling. He has a lot of presence on the course when playing. Fingers crossed that Rory can get revenge for the 2024 US Open and finally collect his career slam.
    • Day 266: mirror work this evening. Working on the same stuff.
    • Day 194 - 2025-04-12 Limited time, but got five minutes in.
    • I've seen/heard this question in every sport.
    • I’m definitely pulling for Rory. I must say I wish BDC hadn’t gone to LIV. I like his YouTube content and just don’t get why he felt he had to go there. It’s obvious he loves the game and the fans, and he’s not getting near the hype when he plays those exhibition matches on LIV.    I’d like to see Rose have a strong finish as well. Most of all though, I wanna see Rory have a solid Sunday.
