And before anyone cries, "where are all the Americans?!", well don't bother: I already asked myself that when I looked at both the current Official World Golf and PGA Tour Top 30's.

AK not American enough for you? He was born and raised in Southern California, college in Oklahoma, and lives in Texas. Of your list, I say AK has the first major.

Lee Westwood has been playing some good golf as of late and I think AK and Martin Kaymer have the game and attitude too.

My guess would be it will come down to Sergio, AK or Stenson, although with majors it could be any of those players. Perry is probably the longest shot simply because he's not a consistent enough putter for 72 holes of the speed of greens that majors almost always have. Same with Villegas with putting. I think McIlroy is still a year or so away. I'm just not sure where Adam is with his game - he just doesn't seem to play consistently well. Karlsson and Kaymer would also be possibilies since Karlsson played the majors great last year.

Stenson has the focus and the all around game to do it if he plays well. Sergio is going to win one at some point if he can putt. Kim just has too much game not to win one when everything's clicking. I think all three of these guys will win a major in the next couple years.

Yeah, I don't think

Adam Scott will do it - he's injured again as we type (knee) and from an interview I read with him back in December '08, he just doesn't come across as wanting it enough. Plus, has he ever done anything in the Majors? T3, T8, T9 and T9 in 31 starts. Robert Karlsson could be the European Tour's best bet given his results and his game over the last 5 months.

Kenny Perry, if he can continue his solid putting. Still has the length of the younger guys, very cool on the course, and has said winning a major is a priority for him.

I hate to say it, because he just rubs me wrong, but Garcia. Just too close, too often not to get it pretty soon.

I'm afraid you are right- look at how many times Phil came agonizingly close before finally breaking through. I think Sergio gets one this year. The only way someone will beat him to it is if they win the Masters- I've never had much faith in Sergio there. Come Open time (US and Open Championship) Sergio is breaking through, he just HAS to sooner or later.

Anthony Kim! Notice how he plays when he gets in the hunt - he actually plays better and the other guys do not. Bringing a major title to the clubhouse needs inner strength and he has what it takes.

I agree completely. I'm liking Perry for a major win this year. He's one cool cucumber under the pressure and can grind it out. I'd love to see him do it. Seems to be a great guy in every category.

This is Henrik Stenson's year I feel.
An effortless victory in the Nedbank and good performances early in Europe he can be a serious threat if he can get the driver straight

Even though I'm far from a Sergio fan, I'm thinking he'll break through very soon. He'll likely win one this year, and several in the next few years. He's damn talented.

Sergio putts like a 10 handicapper and he's a choker. I highly doubt he'll ever win a major.

I go with Robert Karlson.

Golf is a game in which the ball always lies poorly and the player always lies well.

1st - Sergio
2nd - AK
3rd - Camilo Villegas

I really like AK and Villegas, but Sergio plays too well not to win one this year, with his head FINALLY on somewhat straight.
AK has a really solid game, mind, and I think he knows how to win given his 2 previous wins and a stellar Ryder Cup performance.
Villegas has broken through into the winner's circle 2 times as of last year, and looking good at Torrey Pines this week. He's learning how to win quick, and when he isn't thrashing at the ball with all he's got, he is a very solid player.

    • Played Sunday and implemented the Mayo spinner. Hit my second shot long and left on three to a bare lie. I have seen this shot to a tucked pin but I don’t swing across it enough and hit it too far with a ton of spin but it rolled into the bunker. I pulled my approach short and left on ten to a horrible lie with about 3’ of rise to a tucked pin maybe 5’ on the green. Ball is in a damp lie with debris behind and in front of the ball. Hit it to 3.5’ but horseshoed the putt around the right edge, which was a common miss. I hooked my tee shot into an unplayable lie in the hazard on the left side of the par 5 16th. Hit a great recovery that rolled to about 45 yards short of the back right pin. Hit the spinner over a bumpy green that rolled just over the ridge to 3’. Sank the straight 2.5’ putt. Felt like I had good control of these shots!
