Simple question, do you like Tiger?

Personally, I obviously really respect his game and it's amazing what he's done for the game of golf since he's been around. However, I just have a hard time warming up to him. Anytime I see him interviewed he just doesn't seem warm. He's always too serious and it's just hard for me to warm up to him since he shows practically no personality.

I like TW, like you I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for his game. He has a very close circle of friends, and outside of that, he can appear abrupt and short however, with TW, you know what you are getting. There are other tour players who will appear to be really nice for the camera, then be jerks behind closed doors.

Cheers, Allan

i went with indifferent. i, like everyone else, totally respect the man's ability and skills, but i silently root against him in just about everything he plays. i figure those two counteract each other into indifference.

i have a huge man-crush on tiger. i just wish he would do more for social issues and use his status for issues other than first tee type stuff (education, racism...)

I do not know Tiger personally so how can I like or dislike him. He has one of the least contreversial personas of any major public figure (superstar) today.
But to figure out whether I like him or not is an impossible question.

Honestly, trying to judge someone based on their media interviews is pointless. Some of the biggest a-holes in sports are great with the media and conversely, some of the nicest guys are lousy interviews.

It is just not a fair question - IMHO - and not a good way to judge him.

I like his golf game.

I like some of his philanthropic endeavors.

As a person my jury is still out until he comes over to the house for supper and a round of golf. Or he could ask me over to his place for a meal and a round of golf.

When it comes to Tiger, I tend to find him much more of a "Jack" than an "Arnie" when it comes to my view of him from a persona standpoint. Now, I have always been a complete Nicklaus fan, by the time I was into golf as a spectator sport Arnie was not too far from winning his last PGA event and hadn't won a major for a long time. I am not a giant Tiger fan, but watch him in amazement, and have one daughter that has been a huge Tiger fan since she was 3 years old, and have enjoyed that over the years.

He's very guarded and cautious about how and when any personality shows through, and we really only get glimpses during magic on-course moments, for the most part.

I enjoy watching him, recognize his greatness, but not sure on the "like" part, but the more he has matured, the closer I am to liking him. So, I'm slightly indifferent. I will say he doesn't have to be in the field for me to enjoy or appreciate watching a golf tournament, and I don't think the sky is falling if he doesn't win tournaments he's in.

I actually PREFER it if he's NOT in the field. I'm sorry...I know he's a great player...but yesterday was a prime example of the televised coverage showing ONLY Tiger when he wasn't even in contention! It just gets very, very old watching Tiger when I'm wondering how the rest of the field is doing. Sure...he's their "Cash Cow" but I get tired of watching "Tiger TV" when there's supposed to be a golf tournament televised.

Now if he's lighting the course up...that's a different story. He deserves the coverage in that situation.

i think he's an amazing athlete and has done great things for the sport... but to tell you the truth... im kinda sick that if you ask a non golfer to name a golfer... he's the only one they know... plus i play nike gear and ppl automatically assume im a tiger freak/wannabe

i dont really care for him. granted, he is the best in the game, but i just cant warm up to him for some reason. its cool watching him pull off some incredible shots, but i prefer watching Phil over Tiger. i just cant stand the way he pouts when he misses a putt. i know he's the best golfer out there, but i just dont really care for him

I like Tiger as well, I think if you watch him outside of the tour he shows a lot of personality and looks like your "normal" 30-something. Just out of curiosity what social issues do you wish he do more for?

From watching him play - he drives it okay, but thats pretty much the only thing he has going for him at the moment. He doesnt hit it close, his shortgame is mediocre such is his putting, despite his statement, that he had a lot of time practicing his short game and he felt it was in very good shape.

Yeah, I suspected that's what you meant. And given that, you must define "best player in the world" to about a two-week span of play.

I'm dumbfounded. The guy's played three rounds of golf since coming back. Jeez.

I find Tiger incredibly boring and he is surely the Pete Sampras of golf. At least Phil M can raise a smile and is interesting to watch.

In fact, I enjoy seeing Tiger hit bad shots because he is obnoxious and he is followed around by sycophants who forget that there are other players in the tournament.

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
