They won't just provide the analysis now. You need to take a lesson.

Oh. That must be pretty new. I went to a golf galaxy in Birmingham about 3 months ago. Well, now that I think about it, it started off as me getting the lie angle checked on some of my clubs and just progressed from there. Maybe that guy just gave me all of that under once price.

It might be just this one too. Who knows. The last time I checked, I think it was $20-25 for just the analysis.

Yeah, 20 is what I gave for everything besides paying the extra for getting my clubs bent and some grips changed. Oh well, I'm sure your pro knows what is going on and has you on the right track. I personally like using the video sessions. I just think you get a much more accurate representation of what is going on than you do just by eye. Also, if I see what I am doing on video tape, it helps me fix the problem much quicker than someone just telling me what I am doing wrong.

When I moved to NC two years ago I was a Nine. I peaked at five this past fall. I've had a small slump/lull in my game (back up to seven) attributed to various factors but my game seems to have come back. I just haven't played enough rounds for it to show. Practice helped me and better course management coupled with short game improvement. I actually think I could go lower than five this year. Good luck, work hard, have fun.

WOW!!! What a lesson!!! Today we worked on the takeaway again getting it straighter. We worked on left knee flex which has been a problem for a while and that is why I come up on my toes. I straighten my leg early and he told me that is exact thing that caused Tiger to have to have surgery. The biggest thing we worked on was clearing my hips more. I didn't have much hip turn on the backswing and I wasn't getting them cleared on the swing. All I can say is what a difference a little more turn makes! I hit some of the longest drives today that I have EVER hit! And that was into a good breeze. They weren't ballooning up and they had about a 5yd draw. It was hard to tell how much further they were but I can tell they were further because they had a lower trajectory but had a much longer hang time! They would get out maybe 200 yards or so and then start rising! I could swing like this probably half as hard as I was and still hit it the same length. It felt great! I am really excited about getting to the range and getting this into muscle memory. This is where my woods and iron distance has been. I really can't wait to get these things down....I believe this will turn my game around!!!

I think one of the main reasons to getting down too low digits in a handicap
is understanding the golf swing and not assuming what it is,It was definitely a big factor with me,i had a friend boss who was going to turn pro in Australia
but decided to come to America instead,I played golf with him on a regular basis and he explained what golf is and how to do it,he brought my game on leaps and bounds.I know my handicap now is at 3.9 but i have not renewed my yearly subscription in a while but i am definitely lower now.Arm lift is a huge thing, erase this and coil properly and ball striking and power will come in leaps and bounds.Putting, learn how to putt proper, birdies have to be made,at least two to four a round, then you can class yourself as a good putter,if your not making birdies then your a bad putter. The green is the scoring zone.

This is the problem I had. I had a little arm lift but that was mainly because I was getting stuck on the way down with the little hip turn that I had. My hips were turning but they were late. Now I am getting out of my own way! It was a real eye opener! I usually make a couple of birdies per round (not since I started the swing changes, but that was expected).

Learn how to putt proper is the most difficult area for me right now.

This is the area of the game that make the scoring .

Well, I had my 3rd lesson today and it went great again! We worked on my hip turn again and hand supination. Afterwards I hit about 120 balls and they ALL seemed great with the exception of about 5-10 shots and they just turned over too much. It really felt good. I had that effortless power today. All in all he said that I am making very good progress with the changes. I haven't gotten them to a 100% trustworthy level subconciously yet but it is getting there. I am going to spend the next few weeks swinging more along the lines of 60% or so to really get that hip turn and hand feeling engrained. Then I will gradually start bringing the power back in. I am very excited!! I feel like it is just a matter of time before these changes get to a consistent level and then my practice sessions will be more focused on distance and short game and then I feel like I will really make great improvements with my handicap.

Not only this but I have a friend that is a physical therapist and he is Titleist Performance Institute certified and he put me through their physical assessment and gave me the exercises to help my flexibility. I feel like I have everything lined out this year to really reach my goal!!! Very exciting times!!

I had my 4th lesson yesterday and once again, it was a good one. We are still working on the same things but the good news is they are becoming engrained. My takeaway and hip action are there without me really thinking about it now. We are really focusing on my front knee flex and the wrist bow at impact now. These are the sweet spots!! Once these get where they need to be, then he said my distance will jump by leaps and bounds. I have only been swinging maybe 60% since starting the lessons. I figure when I get these things where they should be and I can start swinging more like 80%, then I am figuring on around a 10-15 yard increase in distance!!!! He says he thinks that 15 yards should be no problem because of the distance I am losing in my swing right now.

My trajectory is going to be so much better. Currently I hit the ball pretty high but my distance is still right with everyone I play with. When I hit the ball "correctly", according to my swing coach, I have that wind piercing trajectory and the ball is really compressed! It is a really good feeling. I just thought I was hitting the ball well before. I can't wait until next year!!!

The good news is it looks like my handicap is leveling out with the swing changes. It really didn't go up as much as I thought it would with a swing change. It has gone from a 2.5 to a 4.8 right now with the next revision this week. Anyway, I just wanted to update my thread! I go back in a few weeks and will update again.

I was looking back at my old threads and realized that I had left this one hanging. Well, I reached my goal of a -5 last year (-4.9 to be exact). At the end of last year I ran into some financial issues that cut back my lesson, practice, and play time. So I haven't been playing as much since. I have recently gotten fired back up to continue on with my goal and get to where I want to be by tournament season 2011. I started going back to my teacher last week and I am still progressing. As of last week, the scoop is gone (before impact, I still have a little scoop move afterwards). Now I have two new problems that I need to work on. 1) Instead of just turning the hips on my backswing, I have a little lateral slide that I am trying to stop. 2) At the beginning of my takeway, my left arm loses contact with my chest and throws me out of whack a bit. Basically, my swing is a little loose and I am trying to tighten it up now. Those should be two things that are fairly easily fixed. My handicap has gone from a -4.9 to a -5.6 as of now, but I figured that would be the case since I have been away from the game for a few months. I am going to keep this thread alive until I reach my new goal of getting to the -2.0 range. I have a pretty good plan to get there. Most lost strokes are from really dumb decisions and not letting previous shots go. And the fact that my driver is still not consistent as it should be. Anyway, just an update.
