Another great win for El Pato - I really like the fact that a guy that came from virtually nothing can go out and beat a lot of pros that came up with a silver spoon in their mouths their entire lives. Outstanding job at hanging in there and getting the job done.

Buenísima Pato! Is good to see a "Latino" in the winners circle!

Greetings!

Congrats to him. He's a turtle of a man. And by that I mean he looks like a turtle contrary to his rather quick pace of play.

Great to see a quick player do well. Thoughts on his chances for a career slam? That is, chances he may someday pick up the British Open and the PGA? Two top tens in the British, along with plenty of missed cuts. Performance in the PGA has been nothing to write home about.

After witnessing Perry's shot on 16, his bogies on 17 and 18, Cabrera's first two shots on the first playoff hole, I suppose one lesson we can take from this is to not give up, keep grinding it out and success may come our way: not a bad lesson in golf and in life. Congratulations Senor Cabrera!

I didn't think about it at the time, but did Cabrera not have the same caddy he had when he won the US Open? You know, the guy that competed on TGC's Big Break? I wonder what happened to him?

I really like how he plays loose, makes a decision, and pulls the trigger quickly. I enjoy watching this type of player more than the robotic ones. He reminds me alot of Lee Trevino in this respect.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

I agree with Beachbreak. And anybody who salutes his main competitor for making what appeared at the time to be the tournament clinching shot (Perry tee shot on 16), apparently ending his own chances, deserves our applause and respect. Not to mention the way he handled himself when he hit behind the tree on 18, thus also apparently ending his chances.

The tailor must have had a field day preparing your jacket Angel! Hats off to you!

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
