Ram Tour Grind blades. I've got 3 sets from the late 80's. Although lately, the Titleists have been in the bag. No reason other than I'm lazy and the Rams need new grips. My favorite irons arw the ones in the trunk right now!

Weapons of choice:
Irons/wedges: Titleist Tour Grind
Driver:Titleist 909D2
3 Wood: Tour Edge Exotic
Putter: Odyssey White Hot

topping the ball has NOTHING to do with your irons. its your swing.

Wow, what a genius, original remark that was! I wasn't topping the ball before - that's why I made the remark. Maybe something changed my swing, huh? Apparently you have the mind set that it isn't possible that the changes in the constructiion of a set of clubs - each club's weight, lengh, swing weight, loft, lie, composition, not to mention sound, feel and balance - doesn't have an affect on or change one's golf swing? Do you have any clue as to why there are so many changes going on with the construction of golf clubs? Do you think Taylormade and Callaway would stay in business if not for their array of "game improvement" which really means "swing improvement" products if they didn't really change people's swings? Really??

You mean all these aspects of a golf club changes from what a person plays with for a long period of time and it's not going to affect his, or her's golf swing? HMMM. I suppose you think that all golf clubs are the same and one's swing isn't going to change even if a club's dynamics might force it to? Ok, that may have been more wrath then your negative comment deserved - as I too have a basic sense that if you have a good solid fundamental golf swing - the club doesn't matter. But the improvement in the clubs over the years really has proved that line of thinking to be obsolete. Further, to back up my point - I've played 54 holes with these since my last comments and recorded rounds averaging 82 - I"d say, not bad for playing with a new set of irons, huh? I"d say my swing has made the necessary adjustments to these irons, wouldn't you? huh? did you hear what I said? adjustments? for a new set of irons? HMMM!

Dude, a few things.

1) calm down 2) "game improvement" does not mean "swing improvement." Not one bit. 3) the guy's right: the construction of the clubs has NOTHING to do with you topping the ball. It's likely all in your head. 4) you ASKED if people had a problem topping that set of irons. 5) calm down

Unless your clubs are two inches shorter or longer, incredibly different in weight, or have shafts that are two flexes stiffer or weaker, no - your swing's not going to change dramatically for the new clubs.

No, it hasn't.

If you're topping the ball because of your new irons, it's in your head. And again, calm down. Nothing the guy said warranted this reaction (and over-reaction) at all.

I have a set of Golfsmith P2's with Rifle 6.0 shafts that I love, but I'm starting to love the 3DX Pros just as much.

holy cow! lol, well, 1. i wasnt aware that every post had to be either Genius or Original (like yours), sorry about that. 2. did you see my little ? that kinda meant i was joking because i thought you were too ( who would think the iron would be the cause of your topping the ball? ). 3. see iacas' response 4. SHEESH!

My current irons which are Ping ISI or IST? Not sure which specific they are either because I bought them used from a friends father. I enjoy them quite a bit even though they are a big long for me because he was a bit taller than I am.

When they wear out, ill probably just get another set.

Precisely, it makes me wonder why someone's favorite irons aren't in their bag anymore. If they were the best (for you), then why aren't you gaming them anymore? Lol.

I love the 690mb's, my favorite sticks so far. Thinkin' about going to the 690.mb though. Also considering the AP2's... I guess it's they're only your favorite until you find something better.

MP-30, I am now hooked on Mizuno forged irons. Was playing Cleveland TA7 until about two years ago, saw some MP-30's on Craigslist for cheap and thought I would try a better player's iron. Took some getting used to, but now I'm addicted to the "click" of a pure shot.

My Eye2s were my favorites, hands dopwn, and were in my bag for all of my best rounds.

But eventually they turned on me, and I decided to go the G10 route for more forgiveness. We'll see if that helps. So far it has, but I do still dream about movijng back to the old clubs at some point.

    • Yeah.  As far as remaining still, I was thinking body rotates around the spine like an axis.  Instead of pivoting, some like me, sway, come off that axis, leave weight on back foot, etc.
    • I apologize on behalf of… idiot men. Sorry about that. Next time, tell the guy to shut up. 😛  Day 553, May 8, 2024 18 holes from the whites with @rwolfe. Windy AF today, but hit some good shots. Slid back a little from where I was the previous two days, but… I can get it back. Made a pretty nifty birdie on 12 from some pretty odd places. 😄
    • The angles look fine. Get as much light as you can on the area — you want the highest shutter speed you can get. Less blur.
    • Snap @ Tour Spoon! Birdied 11 yesterday. Hit a poor iron ,stopped on edge of bunker , pitch with my lob wedge landed about 6’ away and went in. Only 12 & 14 to go, long par5’s into the prevailing wind. Might be waiting a while although I did have about 15’ on 12 after the birdie on 11, didn’t miss by much.
    • Tested the Maxfli TourS yesterday. Compared to my former ball, the Titleist AVX, I got an extra 10 yards off the driver and half a club (5-7 yards) off the irons. The combined extra yardage from the driver and fairway wood meant that on par-5s where I usually hit an 8-iron third shot, I hit a PW. It's just a smidgen softer than the AVX and seems to spin well. Some of the reviews indicated a low ball flight, but I did not notice it. I also did not observe any problems with the paint quality, which was an issue with previous Maxfli models up to and including the U series.  My previous round I tested the Bridgestone E6, a two-piece ball with a different cover. It was OK; the same distance and feel as the AVX but with less spin.
