I watched the Players yesterday, and saw many pairs chatting between shots, while walking the fairway. I notice that Tiger and some of the other Pros don't ever do that... what's your opinion on that issue?

Issue? You often see pros talk on the tour, but Tiger is not one for the pleasantries, he's too dedicated in the game. Some players are good friends and chat when they play together.

It happens a lot more than what the TV cameras show. The players talk to each other all the time. Some of these guys are good friends so of course they will talk. Some guys might not as much as others, but for the most part everyone does. Yesterday they showed Tiger and Chopra between 17 and 18 (I think) talking as they walked to the tee.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Depends on the pairing, but I think it is something that happened more in the past....I remember a great quote from Lee Trevino regarding a final round in a major that he was playing with Jack Nicklaus....apparently they were on teh first tee, or just walking off it when Trevino said something to Jack and Jack responded with.."Lee, I don't really feel like talking today"....Trevino immediately came back with..."Jack, you have two choices, you can either talk or listen."

I just think everyone takes the game and themselves a bit too seriously now.....

what? ive seen tiger talking with his pairing all the time! ok maybe not during the hole (ie. from the fairway to the green) but all the time between green and the next tee!

Whatever works for the player. Maybe talking helps some players stay relaxed. While other players need to keep quite or they lose their focus.

Tiger seems to serious to talk. But he is also in the zone to where he can focus mentally on the game. +'s and -'s to it. I perfer a nice mix... sometimes I'll talk and sometimes I won't. Just depends on the day really. But these guys play a lot together so they are gonna talk to eachother. Tiger just seems more closed off.

when its' for $$, I think Tiger has the right idea. if ya gotta talk, talk with your caddie.even tho it's not golfer against golfer as much as it's golfers against themselves, staying focused(or impeding others' focus) could be the difference between birdie hole and bogeyed hole. plenty of time to talk after the round... thats' my 2cents

I've heard stories of Ben Hogan in his prime saying nothing but "play well" on the first tee and "nice playing" on the 18th green, and nothing in between. He was so focused on the course he was oblivious to his playing competitors. Tiger has many friends on tour, but that doesn't mean he's chatting it up with everyone every day. It was obvious that he and Alex were not speaking during the final round of the Players. Maybe because they were both struggling. If I was Tiger I would have put my arm around Alex and said "Hey man, let's shake this crappy start and make a run! Let's go!"

Other players like Trevino and Fuzzy are blabbermouths, choosing to occupy their brain with anything but golf between shots, sometimes as a form of anxiety control.

I have always been the social type, and it's part of what I like about playing the State events. You meet lots of cool people with great stories. Those who prefer to be stoic and keep to themselves are fine with me, I'll just ignore you and talk to someone else.

I think your playing partners have a lot to do with how you play in a tournament. I find that many people feed off each other. It's hard to play well when the others in your group are stinking it up, and good play tends to rub off on the others as well.

Another 2 cents.

Golf is supposed to be a social game. If you aren't talking with the people you are playing with, why not just play alone?

If I ever get paired with Tiger, I would talk his ear off, even if he did not respond just to piss him off a little. He is so much in his own world I would have to try to get him out of it. I would tell jokes, stories from my childhood.. anything to break the silence. I would talk so much, I would make Lee Traveno seem quiet. I may not play good, but at least I would piss him off. heheheh

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

remember how much rocco was talking last year at the open during the playoff?

Great interview in the new Golf Magazine with Rocco talking about some of what was talked about.

I've seen him do this a lot....however there are times when he's all about the game at hand.
