I tried it today. I was able to hit higher longer shots with my 6 iron through PW. But with the Driver through 5 iron....I had a problem with squaring the club back...so a lot of shots went right.

Anyone else ever tried this? If so..what were your results?

well he does play a fade predominately.

I remember watching a clinic with him and Tiger while Tiger was still injured. AK was hitting all the shots and when Tiger asked him to explain his fade he said, "I don't know how I do it." If you ask me, I don't think he completely understands his swing. And he seems like a spoiled little rich boy if you ask me.

You are probably just struggling with rotating back over to your left side on the follow through. AK has a very simple turn with his swing that keeps him on plane. The trouble is when you slide forward instead of turning on the downswing which causes your push with the longer clubs. Remember, if you turn in quickly on your backswing you have to turn back in quickly on your follow through.

Yeah I've tried it. I think the key is not rushing the transition from backswing to downswing. If you do you get stuck like you're saying you do with the longer clubs. Just slow down a bit on the backswing, and give your swing the time it needs to square the face naturally.

I understand what it means to not know how to do something. When I need to fade it, I just pick a target, imagine the flight of the ball, and think fade. This past Monday at the US Open qualifying, there was one hole that set up for a draw. I normally struggle to hit a draw. Somehow I could not hit a fade on that hole. I also could not aim way right and hit a big draw. I only could aim down the middle and the ball would draw just to the left side of the fairway or left rough, which was almost better than the fairway because the grass was pretty low and I had a better angle to get to the flag. I did not hit that draw any other time all day. I can only explain it by saying that my mind knew I had to hit it, and I did. Wierd

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Personally, I think AK was just trying to put on some fake humility there. When you play at as high a level as AK plays, you know how to execute your shot and fix it if you're off a bit.

I saw that show too. I have also seen him on the playing lesson from the pros and he was explaining his swing fairly well. He knows his swing..don't let that Tiger show fool you.

I know exactly what you mean. When I trust my swing, I just step up and pick targets and execute the shot without thinking much about it. This is especially true if it is a familiar course.

I've been trying to emulate Anthony Kim's swing with mixed results. Given the level of success I've had with it so far, I'm determined to continue trying to make it work for me. It is a very simple swing and I wholeheartedly agree with iWALK18, "...the key is not rushing the transition from backswing to downswing."

This thread is so funny. Just reading it literally.

For instance, I tried Tiger Woods swing today, but I kept hitting it through the fairway and I shot 8 under!!! It was a really weird feeling.

Ive been trying out this swing with my driver for the past couple weeks.. One of my buddies said that i was leading with my arms and would get more power if i turned my shoulders first, and this looked like a good fix. Ive noticed that I do get more power with this swing, but it is not a straight or consistent.. A lot of them go right and some I mishit pretty badly.

Start with your hips and it will pull your arms and shoulders where they should be. Then you will see your true power.

You obviously know nothing about his life.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was more along the lines of him going with whats working that day. If he's swinging the club and drawing the ball all over the range before his round, he plays to that type of shot throughout the round (similarly for his fade). Either he wasn't serious if he said 'I don't know how to do it' or it was taken out of context.

That was his comment but I think it was more in line with he doesn't have a real technical approach to making it draw or fade. What I got from the show was that Tiger has a more technical approach to shaping shots where Anthony has more of a feel approach.
