Handicap updates come out tomorrow :)

Do any of you look forward to handicap update day like a kid at Christmas, especially if you've been playing well? I signed up for the Peninsula Amateur, hopefully getting in the 2's will get me in the championship flight.

Ours come out on Tuesdays. Every other Tuesday, I believe. I don't look forward to them - it doesn't change much.

I played a round yesterday; I parred the first hole, parred the last hole, and made a huge mess out of the other 16. Since it would have been my ninth round since registering for a handicap, and would base my index on my top three scores and not the top two, I wasn't in a big rush to submit my score before the deadline.

Ours comes out every other Friday (the 22nd is our next one). I look forward to it just because I have never had an official handicap until this year....actually just started last month. So I get excited to see how it changes.

ummm. No. Mine is on the way up. I have went up 1.3 points in 2 revisions. My career low just got knocked off and I am playing like &&%^% &^&^. What a game.

No kidding, the only reason I know it even updates is it sends me an email. I have even now gotten in the habit of just deleting it as nothing much changes. I fear I am a 2 for life now.

Sure. I know it smacks of arrogance saying "2 for life" but I am just like someone that is a 20 handicap that strives to improve but rarely does. I was a +1 a few years ago, and even won my club championship. Shot like 7 of 9 tournament rounds at par or better that summer. I haven't had that game since. Now I struggle to shoot par and normally stay around 75 or 76. Frustrating!!!

I know what you mean. I play in a league where they would love to have my ability. I played so much better last year at this time and it is frustrating to play worse than you did regardless of it is at a 2 or an 8.

But I still would love to be good enough to compete without handicaps and hold my own. And you have to be a good 5 or 4 to do that. At least in the local tournements in my area that I want to play in if I can get my game to where I know it can be.

I was asking the same question a month or so ago. Your state should have a website you can join. I am in TN and we have a GolfhouseTN site that I joined. I now have started posting scores to GHIN and have an official index now. It is only 25.00/yr to do it. That is the best bet if you don't want to join a club. What state are you in?
